Used Benellis any good?

I picked up basically the same gun, but set up as a hunting shotgun for $500 used. Mine has a standard stock and 24" barrell. I consider mine an excellent gun and it has been 100% reliable. I have no idea whether the folding stock and sights are worth another $399. They would not be to me.

The $899 price seems high to me for a use scratched Police shotgun and one you will have to spend an extra $65 with shipping from Brownells to convert it back to it's original working order. I don't like folding stocks and it only has rifle sights. The gun pictured has GRS which cost a lot more.

I've handled the M3s. They seem much heavier than the M1. The whole point of the M3 was to be able to use the pump action for low recoil less lethal rounds, and then switch to the semi mode for buck or slugs.

Neat concept, but to me overly complicated and something I would never use. If you really want an M3, that price isn't terrible. I've seen them sell for a little over $1000 before.

I've picked up used M1s for as little as $575 and recently found another one for $625. That takes some shopping, but you should be able to find one for well under the $900 that the M3s are going for.

Thanks for the great responses. I never knew that the pump capability was low power rounds. I don't foresee a situation in which I will be using less lethal rounds. After doing a little more research, I am going to try and find a used M1.

Thanks again,
Keith

You can find some dandy M1's on Guns America from time to time, and can often pick them up for around $750. I saw a couple "new in the box" guns either there or on Gunbroker the other day.
