I've got just a plain Jane black synthetic Vanguard and I am looking for ideas for refinishing. What got me to thinking was that I wanted to do something to the stock, and I wanted to blacken the bolt which is in the white, and I never liked those blackened flutes. I do not have a blast cabinet or an old oven so looks like I am running into some roadblocks. I really like the Dura Coat website, and I have read some good things about Gun Kote, Alumahyde etc. What say ye? If you have done something cool... SHOW ME PICTURES!
Thanks!

"...a plain Jane black synthetic Vanguard..." Blued?
"...wanted to blacken the bolt..." Cold bluing will do that. Not on SS though. No blasting required.
Synthetic stocks can be painted. Krylon comes in flat camouflage colours for not a huge price.
No baking required with Duracoat. Must be sprayed on though. $11 for a Preval Aerosol disposable Sprayer. Four ounces will do 1 or 2 long guns.
Durabake comes in cans, but requires baking.
