Help me decide what to do..257

I've got a situation I don't know what would be the smartest to do. I traded for a 257 Weatherby mag black synthetic vanguard. I have a leupold VX3 on a Warne one piece base on the rifle. I don't like the stock or trigger very much on the rifle. I am wanting to stay with a 257 Weatherby mag rifle. Should I:

1. Buy an aftermarket stock and trigger and put on it.
2. Trade it for a 257 Vanguard sub MOA model.
3. Trade it for something else or sell it
What would you do?

it is just too easy to get triggers and stocks... not to mention the trigger is adjustable..isnt it?

I think the trigger and stock (medalist black) would set me back about 300.

If you figure about 350 trade value and add 300 you would be at about 650. That wouldn't quite buy a sub moa would it?

if it was me, I would definitely go add ons.. you can get exactly the configuration you want for that money rather than a factory gun. Why buy the sub moa and have to put a new stock or get trigger work to it?

I am not sure what the sub moas are going for right now... I just know what I would do.

how do you like the rifle you have other than the stock and trigger? shoot well?

yes its fine other than that for sure. I haven't shot it yet but I've been told its a good shooter by someone I believe very much.

well.. before you do anything... I recommend you get some bullets down the barrel... I have, on more than one occasion, HATED a trigger until I shot the gun... My weatherby vgx delux in 270 is one such case.. the trigger felt just weird. When I took it shooting, I realized that weird trigger was actually very predictable and my opinion quickly changed and I quite like the trigger now.

I vote number 3.....sell it, buy a good rifle!

At the very least, get the sub MOA model Vanguard.

I shortened the stock 3/8", and put a Timney trigger on my Vanguard .257wbymag.
Fixed the stock and scope relief issue.
Also fixed the trigger and accuracy issues.
With 100gr Hornady Pt.Spt over 74.0gr of RL25, I'm getting sub-moa and 3,700fps from 24" tube. Wby brass, Fed215primer, seated to cannulure, just like factory ammo.
nuf said.... cost was ~$100.00.

I believe Weatherby sells stocks like the Sub-MOA has, but in various colors -- and that they'll change the LOP if you want, within bounds of reason. Call their Custom Shop.

Hell, if you have the cash, sell the rifle and get an Accu-Mark. That's all the .257 Weatherby you'll ever need.

The Sub-MOA is a tad on the steep side, IMHO. Might as well make the leap to a Mark V.

To me, it looks like your not really sold on this rifle...over-all.
Trade/sell, what ever and start over.
