Virginia Tech OUTRAGE

...the creation of an environment which made it possible was our own government...

No; it is bigger than that. It is our society that has created this environment. Government didn't teach people that the response to any crisis or perceived emergency is to call the "professional"... to dial 911... to call an ambulance so a paramedic could administer first aid.... or (in a different vein) that you needed a realtor to sell a house... or a mechanic to change your auto's oil... or a carpenter to install your new door knob (it's all related). Self-reliance is gone, except in a handful of people at the fringe of "mainstream" society. We've bred a nation of people who need someone else to take care of them.... and it is this attitude that leads to the DU comments along the lines of "police should be the only ones with guns."

I can't blame the cops on a personal level for taking cover and trying to get a better understanding of the situation. They're people too, and this is coming from someone who absolutely detests the institution of police forces in general.

And neither can I, but when they are the only people equipped to deal with the situation, they need to. People don't fully understand IMO that joining the police force is like going into the Marine Corp. You might have to sacrifice your own life for someone else. Its part of the job.

If anyone is interested this came in my email from Alex Jones at PrisonPlanet.tv

Might interest some of the members here to listen to:

Start thinking real hard about how we're going to counter this. We need to go on the offensive in this debate. We need to contact every politician, and I mean everyone from Dog Catcher to President. We need to hound the media, at every level. Every editor, every station manager, all of them, need to know that we're sick and tired of "gun free zones". We need to be every single caller on talk radio. We need to hound our friends and family. If you know somebody who's on the fence about getting a CCW, PUSH THEM OVER THAT FENCE.

+1. We need to get active IMMEDIATELY. I read that article today and a teacher in my building said, (not 5 minutes ago), "F-ing guns, that's what happens when you let people have guns..."

I smell gun control legislation coming down the pipe in 5...4...3...2...

NO kidding

Gun control coming hard and fast. Glad I'm off early tomorrow. Time to pick up a few AK's and ammo, cause they're about to be banned, even though an evil AK was not used.

Finch--ever notice how the Dems/libs can't say ANYTHING without resorting to foul language? Speaks volumes about their character.

Ink--you are saying, then, that black isn't black and white isn't white. Suggest you read up on liberalism and find out what it really stands for. It's about controlling the populace through ever-increasing government, which does in fact include massive amounts of gun control.

Rachen--Yep. My personal and very un-PC view is that the shooter's body should be dragged out onto the Virginia Tech lawn, stripped, castrated, strung up with a rope and hung from a tree, and then a sign should be posted next to it, "This is what we do to school shooters," in hopes that perhaps it might just deter the next one. (Although armed and trained students, faculty and staff would be preferable...but I really don't see that happening.)

Really? Some guy on Fox just said he came ready with two AUTOMATIC weapons. ...handguns. Automatic handguns. But hey, automatic weapons sounds so much more totally awesome. Just like all the cool graphics they have for "School Massacre".

tam, nearly every post in here contains foul language lol. I'm sorry but I've been swearing since I was five, back when I had to go to church seven days a week, back when I was a 'conservative'!

Blaming an entire group of people for an incident is just stupid, no matter what side of the fence you sit on.

Froggy-

Yeah but look what they are teaching in schools anymore. Our goverment has played a large part in creating the society that relies on it. It doesn't serve the people it has long since become self serving, and everyone of the problems you mention is taught to us at a very early age in goverment funded schools. What should you do in an emergency? Call 911. They don't teach you how to build anything useful in woodshop anymore, they teach you how to build a few crafts. Health class? Yeah that would be nice if they taught you how to maintain your health and some first aid. Nope, they teach you some interesting stuff about how your body works and how to put a condom on a banana. All interesting stuff mind you, but unless you plan on becoming a doctor knowing a lot of internal workings of the body doesn't really matter much, how to set a dislocated joint or bandage yourself though just might save your life one day.

It all goes together but the goverment is self serving and people relying on it more and more means it can grow bigger and bigger, and serving itself in that reguard starts right at school.

What I want to know is why schools and businesses aren't sued for these events. If a school/employer denies their employees the ability to protect themselves then they should be legally held liable for all injuries.

I cant stand these politicians... vehicles kill 43 200 people a year while only 1500 are killed by criminals with guns. Wake up people and quit trying to ban everything thats how civil wars are started. :banghead:

"Experts" and "Professors" are already the pitch-men for the next round of gun control attempts. On the USA Radio Network this afternoon, a former FBI profiler named Van Zant, opined that it was too early to talk about the killers motives, but that "gun control would help in these situations".

During a different radio interview, a Virginia Tech prof said that an LEO at the school today told him "I don't believe in gun control, but I think that it's needed".

Once again, the anti-2nd amendment crowd will try to turn this homocidal rampage into political gain.

They're vultures, waiting for gun deaths to feed on.

Considering it's a gun free zone, it's obvious gun control DOES NOT work. It's strange though the shooter attacked the building right across from the ROTC. If anything is going to have the control nuts speaking up it's this.

TWO HOURS

what i want to know is how did they let TWO HOURS

go by with this guy running around shooting folks?

TWO HOURS between shootings.
students hadnt been notified properly i am jsut so angry , argh.
this is almost a set up for gun control.

from nytimes.com
Kirsten Bernhards, 18, said she and countless other students had no idea that a shooting had occurred when she left her dorm room in O’Shaughnessy Hall shortly before 10 a.m., more than two hours after the first shootings.

“I was leaving for my 10:10 film class,” she said. “I had just locked the door and my neighbor said, ‘did you check your email?’”

The university had, a few minutes earlier, sent out a bulletin warning students about an apparent shooter. But few students seemed to have any sense of urgency.

Ms. Bernards said she walked toward her class, preoccupied with an upcoming exam and listening to music on her IPOD. On the way, she said, she heard some loud cracks, and only later concluded they had been gunshots from the second round of shootings.

"a former FBI profiler named Van Zant, opined that it was too early to talk about the killers motives, but that "gun control would help in these situations".

If that was Steve Van Zandt, he was probably stoned.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Seriously, though, they don't know who the guy is, haven't announced what guns he used, don't know where he got them, don't know why he did it, don't know how he managed to do it without being stopped by law enforcement or security, don't know anything.

But they know that more gun control will help. :banghead:

Ironic therefore it is that Virginia is a concealed carry state and yet Virginia Tech campus recently enforced a policy prohibiting "unauthorized possession, storage or control" of firearms on campus. According to gun rights activists such as Aaron Zelman of Jews For The Preservation of Firearms, VA Tech has "blood on its hands" for disarming the victims who could potentially have defended themselves against the killer

thorn726,
An article I read stated that the campus police made a judgement call that the first shooting was isolated to the dorm, and therefore that closing the campus wasn't warranted. Honestly, that makes sense to me. AFAIK they still don't know if the two shootings are related (I suppose there will soon be a press conference where ballistics results are compared), although it would be quite a coincidence if they're not.

The attack continues... You can fire 19 rounds in under 6 seconds from a Glock (FOX). Yes you can, but I for one can't do it accurately. There are some that can. If FOX is broadcasting this I hate to think what the other networks are coming up with.

El Tejon's thread (tinfoil hat on) has merit. No ID on the shooter as of latest news.

Bad times ahead I'm afraid.

This is a very tragic and senseless event. My condolences to the families. However, this event will give the dem's all the "ammo" they need, no pun intended. Prepare for the gun control assault.  :fire:

yes indeed, bad times ahead. Gun control coming down the pike, and it just picked up speed. My prayers go out to the families and the victims.

I bet Schumer, Feinstein, and the rest of the gun grabbers are just drooling over this, figuring how they use it to the best advantage.

Remember all the outrage that was generated by the Zumbo incident? Let's get motivated folks, the time is here. If we don't make up our minds to fight what we know is coming, we are going to lose.

I wonder how things would be different if even a handful of the 'victims' said to themselves, "we have nothing to lose, let's rush him

Not likely to happen.
History has shown that people are lead to their slaughter very easily.

Fear is a great paralizer.
