I am brand new to shooting. I would like to improve the trigger on my 10/22 but don't want to spend a lot of money on it. After some research it seems my 2 options are:
1. buy a drop-in volquartsen hammer kit ($40) or
2. a Tier 3 trigger job from brimstone gunsmithing (also $40 after shipping).
What would result in a better/smoother trigger? Would the difference be significant? Going the brimstone route would entail a 4 week wait, which I don't mind if it's worth it . I can use my Marlin60 in the meantime.
BTW... I only use this weapon for target shooting. I have no intention of hunting. It's just that I tried my brother's new rifle with an accutrigger and i really liked it.
I know its possible to lower the #'s yourself but stoning the parts myself makes me nervous. I'd be afraid to end up with an unsafe weapon. I do feel I can handle the drop-in hammer assembly though.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
