Well, I received a set of grips from VZ grips the other day. They are the Desert Blonde canvas Micarta. I put them on my Springfield Operator and they fit perfectly. No gaps, nothing but pure enjoyment....
Then came the horror. These things absorb oil like it they are sponges on a leafy green italian salad. I have had Micarta scaled knives before and never had this happen.
The grips turn a dark rusty brown from the oil which looks terrible. I wrote the company back and was told to clean them with gunscrubber, etc. The problem is worse.
Anyone have any ideas about Micarta? I took them off the gun and put the ebony ones back on, so now I have a set of multi colored grips. Any ideas how to clean em so I can sell them to someone with no oil on their guns?
I will post some pics tomorrow.
Anyone wanna buy a set? never been used.....
