I was in walmart one day walking around and walk by the ammo case and noticed that they had several boxes of federal hst .45acp. Now i know that walmart carries the winchester pdx1 as there primary sd round but has anyone else seen the hst on sale at there local walmart.

I've never seen HST at Wal-Mart but I'm going to start keeping an eye out. I can't find any HST locally because gun shops only carry Hydra-Shoks because they are stuck in the 1990s. I wouldn't mind having a local source for 9mm +P HST.

If I find out any local Wal-Marts carry the HST in 9mm, 124-grain +P in 50 round boxes ... I'll probably have the wife get a second job working there ... stuff is hard to find these days (except at work, but we never get any extra).

I saw +P HST 124 gr for $28/50 on a website not long ago.

I will say that in the Federal line of 9mm SD rounds. Nothing beats the +p+ 115 grain 9BPLE. Nothing! That is not opinion. That is medical fact.

YES!

9BPLE is the king of 9mm. And it beats other calibers too.

Actually $23.47 is cheap compared to my lgs they sell the hst .45 for $34.99 a box. And thats only 20 rounds not the 50 round box.

You poor guys are really missing out. Having to choose what ammo you take home from Walmart. Come to my Walmart, located less than one mile from a gigantic Walmart Distribution Center. It's very quick and simple shopping. Same as it's been for years. They have plenty of 12 gauge. Maybe a bit of hunting rifle stuff. .22lr, .45acp, 9mm? Not in years. Probably at least 4 years, for real.

HA! Yeah, I think most of us have pretty much given up on WalMart post Sandy Hook and have gone online->bulk for most of our orders.

i have seen 45 ACP federal HST in Walmart here in New York lately. I dont know the price since i dont have anything in 45 ACP.

I dont buy ammo in 20 round boxes.

If you have a rifle you probably do. But I know what you mean. In the past I've bought all my Federal HST online in the plain white 50-round law enforcement boxes. I was paying $30 per 50 rounds for the HST rounds in .45 ACP but I've since switched over to 9mm for carry and have yet to stock up on any 9mm HST, so I'm always looking for a good deal so I can pick up 300 rounds and be done.

What makes 9BPLE better than HST? I want to know the hard facts. HST has proven to be a stellar round in the tests I've seen.

If one actually is "better" than the other, then it's going to be in some microscopic, almost indiscernable way. I'd venture to say the most tangible way one is better than another, would be by being the less expensive one. ;)

But after shipping it almost the same price or more

That's true if you are only going to buy a single box. In that case it may make more sense to buy locally. I usually buy a case of practice ammo and then add on a box or two of SD ammo when needed. Where I live sales tax is almost 10 percent which is even more incentive for me to buy online.

9BLE has been documented to give actual hydro-static shock to the shot victim. Do an internet search.
And the wound cavity is just massive compared to the HST. The +p+ 115 gr is moving upwards of close to 1400 fps. If not over that from a service pistol. That makes all the difference compared to 1150 fps from the 124 +P HST.
