yes Dutchman,

that's a DPMS Kitty Kat. i think you've seen one before :)

as far as contractor work, i know nothing about it. i do talk to a contractor from time to time. Blackwater and CTU were the two companies they worked for. CTU is out of the Philippines doing contract work in Iraq.

anyway....im not cut out for this stuff. no military experience here!

You're suffering from adrenalitis. Go buy a Toyota Tacoma.

I went and looked that word up. And I might get mad about your implication someday. So watch out, you.

And I don't fit in the Tacoma. I'm too tall. :(

Ah, no.

I don't get to see a lot of TV these days.

Now that this thread has been yanked totally OT I'll bring it back and ask: Do private contractors tend to get better equipment than gov troops?

I don't know (Cause I haven't read them,) but I always avoided the "Seal Team Fuschia", "Bravo Team Lilac" books by Marcinko cause he looks like a choad on the cover. I just figured they were the MallNinja's version of a romance novel. The only people that ever recommended those books to me were just like the dubious folks in the Airsoft thread.

You know the, "Dude, Steven Segal is like a 58th level titanium belt in kungfujitsido, and he'd whoop yer @ss!!!1!!!1!" kind of guys?

I could be totally wrong of course.

That's just the impression I got. And the guys in the security poster DO look fat, at least the one in the suit. Seriously it looks like a photoshopped WWE ad. As for "big versus fat", even if you can bench a zillion pounds and you clear 10 rooms before breakfast, fat is fat.

I am certainly no operator by any means, I don't claim to be an expert, but things like that set off my BS meter. I don't mean to offend anybody who may be taking part in this, (Or any Marcinko fans,) and maybe my BS meter needs recalibrating, but I am callin it like I see it.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

Completely Classless, Otisimo.

I come to The High Road to get away from folks with your sneering "mindset."

I'm not a contributer or founding member, but I'm still a member embarrassed on your account.

Apologize or Stifle Yourself.

Best,
John Bear Ross

Here's the DVD author's bio, from his website:

http://www.tacticalresponse.com/instructors/TRI-Yeager.htm

James Yeager founded Tactical Response Inc in 1996 and conducted business as Options for Personal Security Southeast January 2000 until June 2003 when he reverted to Tactical Response Incorporated. He has been on the board of Directors of the Southern Lawman Association and has been an advisor to a major firearms manufacturer.

January 1992 through March 1996 Yeager worked with various Drug Task Force units as well as many local Departments’ Narcotics squads buying and selling illegal narcotics in an undercover capacity. He also began competitive shooting during this period. These agencies included but were not limited to the 24th Drug Task Force, 23rd D.T.F., 27th D.T.F., Paris Police Department, and Henry County Sheriff’s Department. He made over 300 Narcotics buys and sales during this period and still continues to work in short duration operations as needed.

After four long years working undercover (it is NOT like in the movies) he began a Patrol position. May 1996 through September 2002 he worked in Patrol, was a K-9 handler, SWAT officer, Tactical Team (SWAT) leader, and trainer for the Multi-Agency Crisis Response Team. After being fired buy a new Sheriff he went into private training full-time and is also Vice President of Lightfighter Tactical Incorporated, which is a multi-million dollar tactical gear supply company. He is also currently the Training Officer for a Police Department and a member of a County S.O.R.T. Team.

Yeager is also a professional writer and has been published in magazines such as S.W.A.T., Southern Lawman, and STUFF. He wrote foreword for the book “Surgical Speed Shooting†as well as being on the cover of that book which was written by Andy Stanford.

Like many of his students, Yeager is a training nut. He began taking training in the early 1990s and hasn’t stopped. He is constantly going to new and different Instructors to find the newest and most innovative teaching methods and philosophies. He also has an open invitation for other Instructors to attend his classes.

I've got a few more photoshops including turning the image into the cover of 'Mallninja Quarterly' but I'll hold off out of respect, now that I know this wasn't a joke.

Blackburn,
At what point did you realize it wasn't a joke? When one of the main moderators of this forum posted the thread to begin with? What about when he came back to scold another member for making classless jokes? What about when the person on the DVD’s cover stopped by to answer questions? How about when several people plainly stated that this thread wasn't a joke?

James Yeager is posting from Baghdad. Where are you all posting from?

I'm sorry. I can tell that you are more tactical than I am. Your Sigline has 200% more usage of the word 'tactical' than mine.

I reconcile myself to my fate at your hands.

Just imagine that I am looking at you as I would the firing squad, that faint, fleeting smile playing about my lips, erect and motionless, proud and disdainful, inscrutable to the last.

Thanks to some of our newer members (as well as myself), this thread has not only been hijacked, it has clearly ventured off The High Road. It's a real shame, too, since this DVD may prove to be an invaluable resource to someone.

Thanks for ruining a thread that started out being very informative.

Lighten up guys.

If you have ever been in an 3rd world armpit during civil unrest, you would remember how inadequate the m16 or FAL you and the rest of your team mates were packing felt and were, no air support, no resupply, etc... etc.. etc.. you might have a chip on your shoulder for this type of thing.

Imagine a 20 year old kid who was not experienced but with a good training baseline set of skills, enamored of his instructors, and recruited into this type of nightmare for the $ and excitement. Lambs to the slaughter.

Police work and waking up dopers at 4am is a job that takes some big cajones to be sure but it ain't a military op. Especially because the work takes place in the USA and backup is deep and plentiful. I just don't want to hear about young fellow Americans dying sad, lonely, painful deaths for a few sheckels.

Otisimo,

Just because this is the USA does not mean backup is deep and plentiful. In many parts of the US, especially in West Texas and the Western states, your backup can range anywhere from a rancher with a deer rifle to a wrecker driver, and most LE backup is at least a half an hour away.

Do you do police work?

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

In all fairness to all the people who have misunderstood the pictures of James Yeager (that is you, right), it is an easy mistake to make. There are so many pictures out there of people posing in tactical gear. Pick up a US Cavalry catalog sometime if you want to see what I mean. That was my initial impression. After a few people got the hammer dropped on them I went back and looked at the picture a little more. The eyes and the set of the face are different than a poser. I don't have enough SEAL, SF, Delta Force, SWAT buddies to be able to put my finger on it precisely (read: none), but you can tell if you look closely. I think a few people have to extract their foot from their mouth, but it was an easy mistake to make. Let's cut 'em some slack.

Confucious say, "Wise man ask questions first, shoot later. You never know who will be shooting back at you." :D

Back on topic, would anyone recruit a veteran with four years in the Infantry? That's where I'll be in four year (ship out in June). I'm not looking to ditch the Army before I start, but I'd like to know what my options are when I eventually get out.
