What 22 pistol do you like to use for target shooting?

Hi Standard

I like the Hi-Standard 106, 25 yds off bench sand bags , I have a Ruger MII at AlAnd Bobs in GR MI getting it drilled and taped for a red dot scope . THANKS TEDMI.

Ruger 22/45 "Gov't Competition", a blue slabside 6 7/8" bull barrel version of the 22/45 that was never in the catalog AFAIK. Love it!

An old H&R revolver with a 7.5" barrel. That, too, is fun, though not quite the target gun that the Ruger is.

Those Smith 41's are amazing! Don't have one, though.

I can't shoot any better than this capable of.

For Bullseye, I use an A-prefix 7" M41 or a Marvel conversion (what is now known as the Unit 1) on a Series '70 lower. For club revolver competitions, I use my FA 97 with the 5.25" octagon barrel.

I bought a Buckmark a little over a year ago and I love it. It is reliable and easy to shoot well. It's become one of my main rabbit guns and fills the role very well. :D

Slmith and Wesson M 41 with an optional S&W "field barrel" which I purchased from the old Gil Hibbard guns. this is basically their long 7 1/2 in barrel cut back to either 5 or 5 1/2, cannot remember, and a ramp front sight installed.
This gives it much of the heft and balance of a 1911 colt. My other is the second handgun I ever bought , a S&W K-22 from an old Sgt who had an interest in a pawn shop in Orlando, Fla when I was a young Lt in the AF there.

I don't have one favorite.

S&W Model 41 w/ 5.5" bbl and red dot

Sig/Hammerili Trailside for more casual use with iron sights.

Colt Officers Model Match if I'm in a revolver frame of mind.

The following are my choices of .22LR pistols for accuracy's sake:

1) T/C Arms' Contender and G2 Contender with .22LR MATCH barrel.

2) Ruger Mark II Government Target

3) Ruger Mark II Slab-side Target

These are the only "dedicated" target .22LR pistols that I have owned, and so the only ones I can make an informed comments on.

Well, since I am not an Olympic marksman, I have yet to purchase a true target pistol. As far as .22 pistols go, I heavily favor Ruger MkII's, especially those with the bull barrel. If I can't hit it with my MkII, I don't think a high-end target pistol would do any better, although I would certainly look cooler...

If the goal is to be a better marksman, most people would be better off buying more ammo, rather than a new gun. Practice will get you there, shiny metal won't.
