What do YOU do?

Yes, it can. It is designed to fire a round that has been loaded into the chamber when the trigger is pulled, and then eject a casing. Having a mag doesn't change that - it merely limits it to a single-shot capacity.
That's bull, sorry.

Are you honestly saying that you would be fine with a mini 14 that ftf's constantly?

I'm kinda surprised you felt the need to make a thread about this. The seller didn't mention mags, you didn't ask, you admit you were happy with the price. Surely going out and buying a couple of mags was on your agenda, anyway?

Not having a magazine doesn't affect it's operational condition.

Since when was the mini 14 designed to be a single shot?

It was designed to fire ROUNDS in a SEMI AUTO fashion; not as a single shot.

With out the mag it blows gases out the empty mag well which is not how it is designed or intended to be used; nor safe if you want to split hairs.

Taking it a step farther, when looking at gun ads on gunbroker for example, most of the reputable sellers openly disclose how many mags the gun comes with.

It would be like buying water from your neighbor for your family and later finding out that is non-potable water. Sure, water can be used for bathing, watering plants etc. But its also intended to be used for drinking.

Wouldnt you be irked if you bought water from your neighbor and he didnt disclose you cant drink it, as it commonly believed to be use for?

I've never sold a rifle and included a magazine. I've never bought a used rifle that included a magazine.

Reading that add, it would never occur to me that a magazine would be included... I would have definitely expected to get it without one. There is not one in the pictures, and it says nothing about one in the text.

It is a used rifle. It is not a new one from a dealer. There is no reason to expect that the "box, lock, mag, manual", etc, that come with the rifle from the factory will be included, unless specifically stated. Everyone has their own preference for rifle magazines.

That add is SOP, and the seller is in no way out of line by not including something that was not advertized. The seller can't forsee every possible buyer's every possible assumption. He placed what was for sale in the description and pictures, and delivered exactly that. That is what you want in a seller. As a buyer, if you are wondering about something that is not in the text or pictures, it is on you to clarify. As a buyer, I always clarify even if something *is* in the pictures, but not the text. As in, "hey buddy, that is a good price.... is everything in the picture included? Even those Troy sights?"

You want more than one crappy 5rd factory mag anyway. ;) If I'm buying a new rifle format for the first time, I go to the best source and order 10 mags, often before I ever receive the rifle.

I suspect this is your first internet used gun transaction? Next time your process as a buyer will be refined. No worries.

You know that white stuff on top of chicken $*i+?
It's still is chicken.......

Omission of information is lying or deceit.
This is THR - it is called that for a reason.
Greed and ignorance all wrapped up in a single transaction.
Takes two to Tango.

Edit to add:

I fixed the sale ad.

Ignorance repeated 2X is called stupid....

I'm sure EVERYONE here need to know how sorry this guy done ya'

Calling a deceitful seller out isn't very "High Road" either, you made your point in an open forum.
Nice........

I can't believe this is a 3 page ordeal.

If the rifle was pictured WITHOUT a magazine, and the description didn't say anything about a magazine, then your out of luck.

The op paid a decent price. One poster even comment on the sale asking if they rifle was functional at that price.

Omission of information is lying or deceit.

People buy and sell rifles without mags every day. The op should even leave positive feedback assuming he received the rifle promptly, as pictured. The seller didn't list a mag as being included, nor did he picture it with one. It is up to the buyer to ask the details. Nothing was misleading, no deception. Simply a good rifle at a good price. You're buying a gun from a private seller so you should ask questions like that.

Even if I'm buying a handgun on here, I ask how many mags. Especially if the firearm is pictured without a mag. IMO, what you see is what you get in a private transaction.
