What do YOU do?

I would have expected at least a 5 rd mag but Mini-14 mags are cheap. Suck it up and buy some mags and move on. It's not worth losing sleep over.

IMO.... given that he/she put so much effort to describe the rifle.... I find it hard to believe that he/she didnt purposely leave out the fact it had no mag.

The seller said: "It is in perfect operational condition".

However it can't be operated as intended and designed with out the mag.

IMO, the seller wasnt outting his best foot forward.

Having said that.... buyer beware.

If your like me, take some comfort in knowing that karma is circular.

The seller said: "It is in perfect operational condition".

Not having a magazine doesn't affect it's operational condition.

However it can't be operated as intended and designed without the mag.

Yes, it can. It is designed to fire a round that has been loaded into the chamber when the trigger is pulled, and then eject a casing. Having a mag doesn't change that - it merely limits it to a single-shot capacity.

I would kind of assume that it would, but if it wasn't in the pics or description, and I didn't think to ask, then I would think I got everything as described. You can only be mad at yourself, IMO. You got what he promised, and what you agreed to.

Thanks for all the interesting replys. I did assume it had a 5rd mag as those are hard to see.
I am not losing sleep, just wanted to get the perspective from others. I can see that there are few that I will not be buying any guns from. ;)
I have 2 20's and 2 30's and a 5 round mag, so that is not the issue. To me it was more of how people treat each other today, I for one would never do something like this without first disclosing it. I won't even sell a used car if the tires are unsafe but still holding pressure. Everyone has their own morals, I just know that I sleep well at night knowing that I have never tried to sneek anything by.

It was fun,
thanks.

In a word, yes, you are out of line. I would not assume, in looking at that listing, that a magazine was included with that rifle. It would have an extra sentence saying something to the effect of: "The following are included with this rifle:". If it doesn't, I make no assumptions.

If this had been an AR auction, I don't think anyone would assume that magazines were included, because there are many more rifle/magazine combinations possible with an AR.

"Let the buyer beware" is as ugly as human nature gets? Really?

At its core it kinda is. Shows at least to me an utter disregard for the well being of people around you. and I haven't seen a society yet that could survive in that condition.

This reminds me of a Christmas present a friend bought his son about 25 yrs. ago. His son (about 6 or 7) wanted a bicycle so his Dad and I went to Sears and bought it. Was still in the box so Dad wrapped it and put it under the Tree with plans of doing the assembly after Jr. unwraps it. All fine and dandy until they open the box only to find that there is no seat in the box. Being Christmas Day Sears was closed so Dad went to Sears the day after Christmas only to be told that this particular bike does not come with a seat and if you want a seat it is going to be $10.00 more. The display bike did have a seat on it and there was no mention on either the box or display that the seat is extra. He opted for a refund and took his business elsewhere.

The answer to your question about the mini is:

YES YOU SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED EVERY ITEM THAT CAME WITH THE GUN TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER INCLUDING THE OWNERS MANUAL, THE ORIGINAL BOX AND THE FIVE ROUND MAGAZINE THAT CAME WITH THE GUN.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is only acceptable to not include the above items if and only if the seller states they are not included.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The answers that have been put forth by other THR Members are indicative of how far our Society has degenerated. I could pick apart several of the responses if not all, however that would serve nobody at this point. So I'll part here stating that I'm ashamed of most of the responses you have received.

"I'm interested in the Mini-14 you have for sale, what comes with it?"

---

Seems like a smart question to ask, don't you think?

" don't find it wrong to sell a gun without a magazine, but I would expect the courtesy of the seller stating that it doesn't come with one."

That's right.

I won't be buying anything from that seller.

I think even if there was a mag in the pic I would have asked if everything is included. I was interested in a Bersa advertised [not on this site] and it was advertised as having two mags and a holster. I still asked if it came with the above mentioned articles. If in doubt ask.

You don't get out much do you. I would suggest you spend a night doing rounds at a metro hospital, then you can talk.

I'm glad you have a very clear-cut definition of who has the right to talk.
