I am considering getting either a Kahr P9 or K9 or another Glock 26/27. Is the Kahr just as good as the Glock? If it is, I would rather have that because of the smaller size... thanks!

The Kahr P9 is lighter and thinner than a Glock 26/27. My Kahr P9 is very accurate and reliable. I have been carrying my P9 instead of my Glock 27 because it is lighter and more concealable. Kahr's customer service is also excellent.

The Kahr as noted is much thinner and easier to conceal than the Glock with the penalty of less rounds of course.

I have found Glocks bullet proof and very consistent. Always the same - almost boring - good boring though. I admire the Glock for what it is. A good solid hammer - a tool.

Kahrs are a bit more finicky because of their close tolerances. I have an early MK9 and it is great, although it does not like long nosed 9mm bullets, but I have heard of some newer Kahrs with problems.

If I had to choose, but I don't have to so I have both, I would go Glock 26.

I think you're arguing apples...and motor oil. I have both and have described the Kahrs as a 'single-stack, all steel Glock' but that only counts in the manual of arms in handling. The biggest difference (to me anyway) is the relatively long re-set of the Kahr triggers compared to the short re-set of the Glocks.

I shoot my Glock more and when I then shoot my Kahr I always flub the shots 'cause of the delta in the trigger re-sets.

I would trust either with my life in terms of reliability; but I would definitely dedicate myself to training with ONLY one and keep it at that.

for ccw kahr is better but a glock can work just as well. personaly i think glock is one of the most versatile and reliable firearms in the world.

The Kahr is a neater package . . . BUT . . . my Kahr P9 was a very troublesome POS, with numerous problems: premature slide lock, trigger pin walk, failure to go into battery, failure of trigger to actuate striker, etc. Kahr tried repeatedly - without success - to repair it under warranty, and finally replaced the pistol - kudos to them for standing behind their product.

BUT since I don't like being a company's beta tester, I immediately traded the brand new replacement for a Glock 26. (I understand "most" of the polymer Kahrs being made currently are OK, but lemons are still getting out Do you feel lucky ? ? )

The Glock works.

Amen. I love the Kahr package, but much prefer the Glock trigger. A nice solution with both trigger and slim form factor (and step up in power factor) is the Glock 36. Of course, it's had a few mechanical issues, too, proving that nothing's perfect. Not even a Glock.

I've got a Blackened P9 with about 600-700 rds through it and not one single problem in the least....
It shoots anything I feed it....

If you do get one, make sure its the blackened Kahr, that way your sure to get a new one with the bugs worked out of it.....drf

I have a Kahr PM9. I had both a GLock 27 and 33. I think those are the sub compact .40 and .357 Sig. Anyway I prefer the Kahr because it is smaller, thinner and lighter. But I only carry the Kahr if I really don't want anyone to know I am ccw. Otherwise it is my Kimber compact CDP.

The Kahr K9 (steel) is on the NYPD's backup gun list, which apparently is hard to get on. I've heard it described as "what you get when a Sig and a Glock have kids".

They are good guns for carry, and the Kahr is much thinner than the Glock. For the purpose you're looking for the K9 or P9 would be better than the G26.

I really like the Kahr design. I've owned a G23 but sold it and now have another G23. I consider it just about the standard mid sized carry piece. Not the best, but the standard. Reliable, combat accurate, good round as long as it doesn't blow up in your hand...

I owned a Kahr P9 Covert which worked for me in every respect, but it was really smaller than I like ideally. I sold it with the intent of getting a Kahr TP9 but have been so happy with my CZ PCR that I've put that on the back burner for a while.

While I like the mid-sized (19, 23, 32) Glocks, the smallest (26, 27,33) have always felt a bit ackward in my hands though I prefer them to the subcompact XDs. For my money, between the 26 or the P9 or TP9, I'd take the Kahr every single time. But your hands aren't my hands and your money isn't my money... so I'd try as hard as I could to shoot both and then make my my mind.

Someone mentioned trigger reset. The Kahr is pretty much a dedicated CCW piece and as such, it should be safe and capable of quick shots to 7 yards. This will cover 99% of civilian self defense shootings. I do agree that the Glock trigger - esp with the Ghost Rocket connector - has a shorter and quicker reset, but the Kahr is very clean and consistant.

I recently sold a Glock 27 and purchased a Kahr PM9.
I mostly carry concealed and the Glock just "didn't quite do it."
I love the little Kahr. Took it to the range the first time and shot 160 trouble free rounds. Not one malf and very light recoil. It conceals well in my pocket and shoots like a dream. It's a keeper.

I found the Glock 27 to be just a little too big for real comfortable concealment. If I can carry a larger gun than the Kahr, I may as well carry a 1911. It conceals just as well as the Glock.

I dont personally own a glock, because i dont like them...however i would never argue that they are a reliable no nonsense tool.

I do however own a Kahr Mk9...and it is my favorite carry piece....

I really like both.
When I can wear a cover garment, or untucked shirt, I carry a G36.

When I'm dressed lighter, the PM9 fits well in a pocket.

I've not shot a Kahr, so I can't say.
I have owned and fired:
Bersa Thunder .380 (not bad at all)
Beretta 92fs
Beretta 96 (both too large for my hands)
Witness Compact 9 (not bad)
CZ75b 9 (too large for my hands)
CZ40
Sig .40 (can't recall which model) - don't care for the .40 caliber in general
Glock 17, 19, 23, 26, 36
Kimber Ultra Carry II
Springfield Armory 1911
Colt Commander 1911
Star BM
Star Ultrastar 40
Browning Hi Power
Springfield XD 9 (regular size and compact)
Beretta Cougar 9
Desert Eagle .357 and .50

Of all these, the Glocks are my favorites. I resisted them at first, because they're hammers. But, they are the ones that are completely consistent time and time again.
The Stars in general I'd have to say are my 2nd favorites, along with the Hi Power.
I love the DE's too, but they're both out of my price range.

My Kahr PM9 is in my pocket right now, as it is almost everyday. My Glock 26 and 17 are sitting in the gunsafe.

When we get to heavy coat and sweater weather, I will probably carry the 26 IWB, with the PM9 in the pocket as a "New York reload". However, as long as the weather is dockers and T-shirt friendly I will rely on the Kahr alone.

what's better? glock

what's better for ccw? kahr pm9

walk around gunstore with both in your pocket to see for yourself

of course, if you're a 24/7 fanny packer, well then, go glock

I don't think they would just lt me "walk around" the store like that :) I have had a G26 in my pocket... what a brick. I would have to go IWB or go with a shoulder rig if I go G26 again.

Both the Glock and Kahr are "premium guns" and very reliable. The problem with any full sized gun that`s cut down into a sub compact is that it`s still a full sized gun...it`s just shorter. Glocks make great duty guns but they`re all on the bulky side (yes even the G-36) and to me the sub compacts feel even more so. The Kahrs on the other hand were designed as small guns in the first place, they`re very slim and offer a full 3 finger grip in a package roughly the same height because their slide and frame are shorter in height. They actually feel like they`re supposed to be their size if that makes any sense. Since I got my P-40 and put enough rounds downrange to get used to it I hardly ever carry my KelTec P-11 anymore. The P-40 plain carrys (and shoots) better and a G-26/27 is a lot chunkier than a P-11. Marcus

I had an identical Kahr P9 Covert, but terrible response from Kahr to the problems. I ended up selling it back to the dealer at a loss after having to pay to send it back to Kahr, only to have them mash a wire in to hold the trigger pin and ignoring all the other problems.

Glad you had a better experience with them standing behind their product than I did, but it is going to be a long long time before I ever consider another Kahr, regardless of whether they have finished their beta testing.
