What's the best .45 carbine?

Somebody mentioned The Delisle, I was reading one of the gun rags recently and saw an enfield conversion kit for less than $200, that allows use of 1911 mags like The Delisle but doesn't have a supressor....

basically the same functionality as the non supressed, and all said and done with the cost of the enfield you should be sub $500...

Taurus is coming out with a copy of the Colt lightning pump-rifle in 45 Colt. It will retail for slightly over 400 dollars and come with Taurus' lifetime warranty.

It ought to be a winner!

if you wanna fire 45ACP from a carbine the only name that should come into your head should be "THOMPSON". i mean its a legend and theres just so much style and elegance to it. I love the beretta storm but id take a thompson over it anyday, unless i was a professional and planned on actually storming houses with it, then id take the beretta cuz its so light.

I'd like to get my hands on a USC, I've held one, but never fired one.

But at the moment, I have two AO Thompson 1927A1s. My only .45 carbines.

I'm curious as to where all of you are getting so much trigger time of .45 Beretta Storms? :)

I'm rather fond of my Winchester "Wrangler" chambered in .45 Colt. Actually, it started out as a "Trapper" and I swapped the traditional lever for a large loop lever just for fun.

I like the Ingram Model 6.
With a short trigger pull you get semi-auto fire. A longer pull and you get rock and roll.

The Ingram has been more reliable than the Reisings I've shot and seems better balanced.

Unfortunately magazines for the M6 are hard to find and expensive.

Imho

Go with a short rifle in a rifle cartridge. If you want something in a handgun ctg., get a handgun. As was debated on a previous thread, better to have a short rifle than a long pistol.

Very sound tactical advice.........................but what if you are not tactical :scrutiny: I actually shoot for fun sometimes. :neener:

im getting a UMP45 soon (select fire tho.....dont know if it qualifies as a carbine tho since its a subgun).

ill let you know how it shoots when BATF says i can have it. and only $900 too! :D

While I can't disagree with you, a real Thompson (not one of those long-barrled imitations) would cost at least 5 times what I paid for my Reising M-50.

Another option would be a MAC10/45 carbine. They use grease-gun mags, parts are plentiful, and they are built like a brick. Put a solid stock on one, and they can actually be shot pretty well.
