Whats your home defense weapon?

My current home defense set-up consists of my 12ga Topper, 7 1/2 shot in the breech 2 more in the shell cuff, and 3 00 in the cuff too. My Makarov w/ 1 in the breech and 8 in the mag +2 spare mags. For my Fiancée, it's the Type 53 Mosin carbine, 10 rounds in the stock cuff, 5 singles and 5 in a stripper clip. Plus her Bersa Firestorm. In defense of her wanting to use the Mosin, she said she mostly wants it for the Bayonet and its warclub potential. She does know how to use it, she also understands the rounds won't stop until they are in our neighbors houses.

9 shot mossy 590 with heat shield loaded with 00buck. I have a bayonet if things get real hairy! plain old bead sights and rifle stock. nothing too fancy. just a good old street howitzer.

The weapon i keep loaded by my bed is a Mossberg500 with pistol grip and Tac-Light....loaded with 5 rounds of 00buck, if that dont get er done, then there were 6 Zombies!!lol

Glock 30 with extended and tritium next to me, along wit a decoy, that is visible. Then another one opposite side. The way I see it if anyone gets in while you are asleep, the first place they are going to look is next to the bed if you are unfortunate enough not to awake soon enough. "my lab snores", "wife can sleep through a nuclear attack", just don't try to put any soft porn on. that can wake her from near death sceaming get that off. So if the dog is asleep, there are no porn stars breaking in, and my alarm fails, lol, I have two backups. I can never have a maid. Next will be a "spider man", "type net" that falls from the ceiling, with flash bangs. Also a jewlery box with an extra loaded mag for every gun in the house including the safe guns.
Never let it be said I haven't prepared since the last one in 79. They came in fast and there were 5. Caught us leaving in an apt in NY. No dog, no alarm, no backup, no plan. No good. Worse part of when my mom came to try living with us, she's 90, was trying to keep the envelope sealed, she just kept opening doors and walking around the house. Mom is back in NY now. I couldn't take it, the chime is hooked up to the alarm, and every 5 minutes, I thought someone was coming in. Try explaining this to a 90 yr old woman. Guests are told, when I am down, the alarm goes on, and no one can go out, or open a window or door, until we get up. My wife is up at 5:30. so it isn't a problem. I also give them a temp code, if it's my family. We aren't allowed rottis or pits here. So my lab got the job.
Man, I hope this is a joke. Because you otherwise it seems like you've voluntarily imprisoned yourself. I'm sure it was bad, that incident in '79, but not being able to open an interior door or a window in an occupied house, that's not that great either.

Remington 870 Express LW YOUTH, 20Ga, loaded with 3" #4 buck magnum, and 4 extra rounds on a butt cuff.

12 ga Remington 870 in my closet loaded with buckshot (which also doubles as my hunting shotgun) and my wife has a 20 ga Browning BPS in hers, loaded with buckshot. For backup I have a S&W 686+, it currently has WWB JHP in it, but I'm going to get some Buffalo Bore reduced flash JHP loads for it.

The rest are hidden in strategic locations around the house. Not paranoid or a drug dealer or user, just prepared.

Where I live in FL, it's almost never an issue to open or leave a window unlocked. I don't know anyone who normally leaves a door or a window open. The police recentlly came "at my request", and advised all of us at our HOA meeting, to never leave the Garage doors open or the windows. Unfortuantelly that's the way it is now. I am out a lot and have no fear of leaving my home, I go to our clubhouse pool and gym, almost every day. But as far as securing the houses go. We have had as many as 22 cars vandalized in one night in our gated community. That's not unusual. Two weeks ago they removed the front gates with a hacksaw. Most folks have put in cameras, along with their alarms, I haven't felt like spending the extra 2 thousand to do that yet, "new house and all", but Fl is down on it's luck right now, and there is a lot of stealing and looting going on, I have seen guys pull up with a truck and empty out new homes. Found out later they were not theirs. Even steal the pavers and pipes. Hopefully it will pass, it is the treasure coast. These homes went from 7 hundred thou down to as low as 100, so it's rough out there. And with bad economy comes theft. I lived down in Broward during the "good times" for 20 years and never had a problem. But up here it's isolated here, I have cows and horses across the road.good luck waiting for a cop. They even told us that they could not protect us any more due to deep cuts in the dept funding. So what does that tell you.
No one leaves their windows or doors open anymore. It's just the way things are, we are the largest or second largest forclosure state in the country. and it would just be inviting trouble not to be vigilant. There are squatters living amoung us that we can't even weed out, including a state run house full of felons. Directlly accross the road there are dozens of million dollar homes that went belly up 3 years ago. People are in those homes as there is no security. And this is Vero Beach, the number one place for retired fortune 500 CEO's, You can Google that. Leaving your gaurd down is just not wise these days. I hope you understand now Batjika.

My DAO snubbies are usually my home defense weapons. My Taurus 85CH and S&W 442 are my only handguns that are always loaded. I often carry around the apartment with one in my pocket. When I'm not expecting someone and there is a knock on the door, it is available, but won't be noticeable and make the visitor nervous. If I somehow forget to put it in my pocket, it is a lot quicker to run to the bedroom and slip it into my pocket before answering the door than it would be to set up an IWB or OWB holster.

Since they are always loaded, they are available 24/7 if someone breaks in. Occasionally, I'll have my S&W 65LS, S&W 625 Mountain Gun, S&W 1911SC, Charles Daly 1911, or Taurus PT140 Millennium Pro loaded and available as well. If I have time to get to it, and when it is loaded (or if I have time to load it) my Benelli Nova 18.5" 12ga with rifle sights is available until I sell it (I don't like it). My Winchester 94 .45LC also had the same role as the Benelli until I sold it (I will replace it with a .357mag or .44mag lever carbine). My AR also sometimes is given the same duties as well. Again though, the only ones always loaded and thus my go to home defense guns are my two DAO .38spl snubs.

I have a bunch of knives too, and they are probably closer at hand when I am asleep (though not always), but the guns are always near (on my person depending upon the time of day) and ready.

I put my money where my mouth (and advice) is.
I bought a Mossberg 500 cruiser in .410 loaded with 00 buckshot.
Easy to shoot, compact, efficient.

My dogs freak out if something new has even blown into my yard, so if they go off i have enough time to get to my pistol ( next to my alarm clock) so were good :)

SP101 and CZ75 close at hand
semi-auto 12ga nearby
AR15 and AK47 if my home is invaded by multiple zombies

Funny thing one of the ladies in my HOA, is a teacher in a private school here in town, and she and I and her husband have been shooting toghther, She told us that half the moms at school are carrying when they come to pick up their kids. These are woman 30-40 years old, most married or divorced. with Kids "of course". She was very funny about it. She calls it "packing heat" which I find a cute term .Both my doctors carry, I consulted with them when they were in the market and didn't know what to get. Now my neurologist wants a H&K in 40, so I am sending him stuff I find on the forums. Also the nurses in both offices carry. It's amazing how many people open up now about carrying concealed. A few years ago this would have been a taboo discussion. Maybe we are making headway here . The Gas station manager also asked my opinion on what I thought would be a good weapon to have now that he is staying open later. Most of the fellas at Home Depot, my wifes friends and on and on all seem to be on board with carrying guns. 40 years ago I never thought I would see the day, that most regular folks would feel secure enough to discuss this subject the way they are now. It sure feels better than ever before to me. Of course you always get the occasional knucklehead that thinks all guns should be banned and that we are all nuts. But you are always going to have that. The majority of normal working class folks get the concept. If we all watch out for each other, it's a heck of a lot safer out there. I feel better knowing that my neighboors on both sidedes and across the street are armed and are friends with us and each other. If some of yyou old timers remember that Kitty Genovese story back in the 60's Or 70's when the woman, Kitty , went from one apartment to the other screaming for help and no one woud open their door, "she died" in NYC. from a beating /stabbing , and no one would come to her aid. I am going to google it after this post just to remember what can happen, when people do nothing to help their neighboor. It was big news at the time. Here it is

Catherine Susan Genovese (July 7, 1935[2] – March 13, 1964), commonly known as Kitty Genovese, was a New York City woman who was stabbed to death near her home in the Kew Gardens section of Queens, New York on March 13, 1964.[3] Genovese was buried in a family grave at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, Connecticut.
The circumstances of her murder and the lack of reaction of numerous neighbors were reported by a newspaper article published two weeks later;[4] the common portrayal of neighbors being fully aware but completely nonresponsive has later been criticized as inaccurate.[5] Nonetheless, it prompted investigation into the social psychological phenomenon that has become known as the bystander effect (or "Genovese syndrome")[6] and especially diffusion of responsibility.
Check it out when you have some free time, it reminds me of that saying about all it takes is for good men to do nothing. That was just an awfull look at society and the lack of care or intrest for ones fellow man.
