When are you taking CCW to far?

I am surprised someone doesn't make a fanny pack that is water proof. Surely they do.

A Kel-Tec P-32 is very small and can be carried in the pocket while doing all sorts of activities. I am sure there are others as well.

with the recent shark attacks I could see why "someone" "MAY" want to carry one.

And this is taking CCW too far, when you carry this

Shacklemenot is right

Shacklemenot is right. CCW ought to be 24/7, no exceptions. Carrying is like having health insurance. You don't think you will need it, but you might, any time, day or night. Would you interrupt your health insurance for a day or two, and then start it back up again? Why not?

The health insurance isn't getting wet when I go swimming, though.

For those saying shark protection, is it safe to fire a gun underwater? Just curious, I wouldn't think so, and even if you did, I couldn't see it being very effective past a few feet.

ShackleMeNot- If you don't mind my asking, what do you use to carry on the mountain bike or climbing? I have yet to figure it out, scared of falling on it so the big CRKT knife is my usual bike carry.

hahhahaha. you were looking! heheh.

anyway i hope the guy was undercover LE (someone should have a good joke for that). otherwise, yeah that seems extreme

Maybe he didn't want to leave it on the blanket, or maybe he was trying to impress the ladies with his bulge..

Personal comfort zones...is exactly that in my opinion.

If I want to go out on a jet ski or do some remote area scuba diving, guess what will be going with me? I can see it now you surface near your boat and there is another boat alongside with a couple of "people" on your boat any weapons you might have had on the boat are thiers now, if they so inclined and there you are up the creek without a paddle or boat. S&W 686 works fairly well and can be fired from inside its waterproof pouch.

Jet skiing and someone decides he wants it more than you do and has no problem trying to take it from you and your pistol is in the truck.

Unless we walk a mile in someones shoes we know not thier reason for the course of action they choose and Murphy picks the darndest times to show up at your door with a million dollar smile.

Three years ago a woman was killed(with a brick) and then raped on the beach right in my little town,I wonder if she wished she had a gun? A man was robbed then shot and killed in the next town north. The criminal got the money then told the guys wife to run, luckily for her he did not rape/kill her also. The same guy shot the responding LEO,he lived.I guess we all look at the world through our experiences.I choose to learn from others also.I choose to carry most of the time.

It's not like the beach magically makes you safe from crime. BGs don't wait for you to go get your gun.

Carry whenever you're awake; you don't want your final thoughts to be "if only I'd have carried my CCW today"

I knew someone was going to ask me why I was looking (Gay/Not Gay). Like I said in my post, for whatever reason I notice just about everything. I guess I have this thing about details or some such thing. Sometimes it drives my future wife nuts, which isn't such a bad thing. ;) Keeps her on her toes. Guess I chose the wrong career. I should of been a CSI or something. lol

Oh and for the record. Definitely NOT gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with being so!!)

The way I figure, it's all about choices. For some members, the choice is to carry 24/7/365, and avoid any situations which would prevent carry, or else put up with whatever discomfort that may come from keeping a J-frame in your swimsuit.

I choose to take the chance that I won't be violently attacked in the middle of a crowded beach in daylight hours while with my family, a group of trusted friends, and a Spyderco knife in my pocket.

Life is all about choices, and the key is to make informed decisions, not blindinly going through life hoping for the best in every situation.

ShackleMeNot- If you don't mind my asking, what do you use to carry on the mountain bike or climbing? I have yet to figure it out, scared of falling on it so the big CRKT knife is my usual bike carry.

While climbing I carry a P32 clipped in appendix carry. It's light enough to not bother me. I have my Glock 19 back in my climbing pack on the ground with my climbing partner (normally my wife).

While biking I normally carry my Glock 19 in a gunny sack in front. Very rarely I just carry IWB at 3 o'clock. If you are going to carry a large CRKT you can carry a pocket pistols for not much more effort. They will give you more distance than your knife and in defense, distance is your friend.

Snowboarding I do the gunny sack thing with my Glock 19. I always carry OC as well. For some reason the slopes seem to attract bad attitudes and I’d rather spray someone than have to punch holes in them. It's much easier to carry more gear when you are wearing a jacket...

At a minimum I'll have my P32 and CRKT m16 on me. Even when active that's as "light" as I'll go.

I'm sorry I'm so sorry, but that is the funniest OMG funniest thing I've ever ever read. Honest to god, Sorry Skunkape, sorry, but that's the funniest thing ever. I did not ever expect to still be laughing 3 minutes later. LOlololol

I mean one time I watched a Tom Green show late one night with my landlady and he gave his parents a statue of his dad doing his mom doggie-style, and that was pretty funny, we laughed for quite a while.

But thanks, oh god I needed that laugh!

This board is amazing!

(PS as for carrying swimming it makes as much sense as anywhere else, imo, if you can find some inconspicuous way.)

(PPS A downside might be that if you 'lose retention' while jogging in a park, you can pick it up... in the ocean it might be trickier)

"My wife and I have taken the plunge and are planning to spend a full week at Forest Hills Nudist Resort this summer. We've been to nudist camps twice before, but never overnight. Since these previous trips were to beaches, my concealed carry technique for those situations was to keep my Makarov in a Ziploc bag inside our cooler. This summer's trip, however will include volleyball, pot-luck dinners, and dances. My cooler can't be within arm's reach in those situations. I need some advice. I've become so used to my CCW, I can't imagine being unarmed. Here are my options, as I see them:

1) Go unarmed, because nudists are generally real nice folks.

2) Carry around a leather satchel or man-purse. With a shoulder strap, of course.

3) This one's kind of hard to explain. My wife and I are into a rather unusual type of entertainment, and I've discovered that normal duct tape adheres very well to human skin. You should also know that I'm quite overweight, bordering on obese. In a flash of revelation one fine morning, I realized that one of the advantages of being rotund is that I'm able to conceal a NAA mini-revolver between the two largest rolls of my belly. A bit of duct tape holds it in place. Its completely invisible when I'm standing or sitting upright. It does show a bit when I recline or lie down, however."

Well, now that I learned my PA LTCF applies to short barrelled rifles and shotguns, guess what I'm working on?

Why? Because it amuses me and because I can. I'm thinking a short barrelled Mossberg 500/590 (mag fed) and a Krinkov. Those I just saw a picture of a FAL AOW that kinda appeals to my sense of overkill.

As for CCW in swimming trunks... uh, well. Geesh, "packing" jokes come to mind. I don't like swimming myself. But beaches are not free from crime. Actually, in some areas, they are a magnet for muggings.

I suppose I'm a "live and let live" type of guy. If someone wants to carry in a bathing suit, doesn't really bother me. Would I do so? Not sure. I'll stick to pools, I suppose.

what do you use to carry on the mountain bike
I carry my P32 in a pocket holster. However, I'm rarely mountain biking these days, it's more like riding my mountain bike on pavement and frequently with my daughter being towed behind in a Burley Solo. I'm sooo domesticated...

There's nothing wrong about being observant, I'm the same way. My girlfriend rolls her eyes when we go palces I want my back to the wall near an door.

Standing wolf

I agree, I do the same. But I do own a suit. Actually it's my workout shorts, I just tell people it's a bathing suit.

When I go to the gym, it's hard to carry, so I just keep my Swiss Army knife handy.
