This is my wife's 2.5inch and the 6inch GP100 is a gift from my dad. Both are great shooters, and they are both 357's. Something magical about the 357 magnum round. It's probably my favorite, especially since I reload.
Where are the GP100 fans???

Another one here, I bought a 4.2" GP-100 Match Champion in 10mm.
Right off the bat I ordered a Wolff spring kit and open it up which is so easy.
I looked for anything that might need touching up then put it back together.
It is now one of the smoothest, easiest to shoot revolvers I have ever had, well, my S&W model 66-1 is pretty darn good too.
But I tell you what, I'm keeping my eye out for a 4" GP-100 in .357 Magnum.
They are so nice.

I have two 44 Special GP100's (3" and 5" barrels) and a 327 Fed Magnum (4.2" barrel).
All three are excellent firearms but look a bit frumpy. You'd have to pry them "from my cold dead hands" but I prefer S&W revolvers in general.
If Ruger introduced a GP100 in 41 Special (preferred) or 41 Magnum, I'd be on one like stink on sh**.

I am a fan also. A 6 inch 357 with a HIVIZ Litewave sight on the front. New springs and action smoothed by me. I prefer 6 inch tubes on 357 magnums. Better sight radius, better pointability, less muzzle rise, and less muzzle blast and it still fits in a holster on the hip easily. Federal 357B 125 grain hollow points leave my muzzle at 1550 fps. That is plenty of horsepower for a handgun as far as I am concerned. My 67 Smith goes through six rounds faster, but I don't figure I need six to do the job with my GP.
Not a great pic, but very capable gun, the trigger was very good right out of the box. I wound up getting a pair of Altamonts for it, didn't care much for the rubber grips.

Thanks, but I like my wood paneled rubber grips. I was just curious about what kind of wood they were made from. That special Ebay wood?
Malaysian something or other I think.....but yeah eBay special wood lol.

The used 4" GP-100 357 I bought several years ago has been fired a ton by me and my son. Very enjoyable gun to shoot. I am betting it will take many more decades of regular use and still be in nearly the same shape it is in now. One of the best gun buys I have ever made.

Had a 4in one. Loved it, but gave to my son for his 35th birthday. Bought it back in 98. Sad to let it go, But I have a 4in S&W 686 I got new in 83 and I'm all good.

Have a 5" SS .357 that I enjoy plinking with. Although the trigger was decent after close to 2k rounds of mostly 38sp, yesterday I polished the innards with a felt cone and some Flitz. Ordering shims and springs later today.

I like them, the 6" with full underlying. I had a 6" without that & sold it. Would love to have one but ammo is more than my 9mm so unless I find one on sale I won't get one. No disrespect to S& W, I would buy a gp100 cause they're built like a tank. I used to have a P85 and that thing was just tough as they come so the higher dollar Ruger pistols will go the distance.

Have 3 of them: a 3" .44 Sp, a 2.5" 7 shot .357 #1774 and a 22 yr. old custom 2.75" .357. The last one is the smoothest due to polishing inside and using a 9 lb mainspring and 8 lb trigger return. Double action is as smooth as a Colt Python I used to have (don't ask - it was a roller action tuned gun by Walt Sherman when he was doing them) but not quite as light coming in around 7lbs.
