47, separated, software engineer

Been away from firearms for about 20 years (although there was always at least one around for SD). When MN CCW finally passed, it caused me to get back into the hobby.

This board has really provided a lot of food for thought. Has prompted me to evaluate security issues, maintain better situational awareness and even to start Muay Thai lessons.

So although I may not chime in much, I'm always interested in the various points of view here.

Wow! Talk about the amazing ever-expanding thread!

I'll add my $0.02 -

41 years old, married for 21 years (quite happily, I might add!), with a 17 year old daughter and a 14 year old son, two dogs, two cats, and a whole bunch of fish in the garden ponds.

I am an engineer with a major airline, so there haven't been a lot of gun purchases lately! I keep putting away the pennies, but it will probably be awhile before my next purchase. I finally realized that there was a real need to be able to defend myself and my family about 9 months ago, so that got me "re" started with the interest in guns. Man! It's addictive! I want more now! :D

41 yo, married for 18 yrs, two sons 17 & 18, just sent the older one off to college, self employed plumber, HVAC/R, Gaslines, minor electrical. Have more guns than I need but less than I want. Reloader. Haven't bought any new guns in 4 yrs or so, but have been given two in the last year or so.

Girlwithagun, no, we're not all independently wealthy. If you want a particular firearm, you give up something else, save to buy it or sell something you have to buy the new thing. Same as you do for anything else.
Oh and I'm 49. Canadian. Work for an ISP and quite happily live alone with my cat. Snicker. What did you have in mind?

My goodness-at the half century mark.
Widower, 4 kids-3 in the military and one in high school.
Field support engineer in Telecom.
Don't have all the guns I want, but getting there.

44 years old.
Married 16 years and passed on my genes.
Former manager for a prominent retailer.
Presently working in a firearms emporium.
I own a crazy American Water Spaniel.
Can't buy everything I want as money is sometimes tight but the C&R takes away some of the sting.
Presently saving up to buy an M1A and a Remington 870.

I'm 36 yrs old, married for 3 yrs, 1 son 2.5yrs old(yup, do the math), 2 stepdaughters 10yrs old and 20yrs old. ONE VERY LUCKY son-in-law, 21 yrs old in the Air Force, and....(gulp).....1 granddaughter almost 4yrs old, remember the LUCKY son-in-law;) . Avid shooter and I compete in IDPA and IPSC. My "bag" so to speak is long range shooting, 1000yd club. I know that sounds alittle "doctored" but I will confess that I could shoot 1000yds 10 years ago. Now, with fading vision and sober hands.......I doubt it. I think I'm good to 500 though;) .
My job is a great one. I baby-sit corp. executives when they travel.......it's a living.

Okay, but no one's allowed to laugh

I'm a 33 y/o vegetarian Buddhist who just happens to walk around with a 357 on his hip. I'm a pediatric intensive care nurse, conservative republician whose been married for 10 years to a 34 y/o conservative libertarian preschool teacher who has learned to shoot better than I can. I have a 16 y/o son with several body piercings and a more conservative view than I have. I kept him, ditched his mother, she was annoying. We also have 4 dogs, 4 cats, 6 fish, and 4 snakes. I have my C&R (bet you would have never guessed) so I have been picking up about one rifle a month. However, I have recently discovered the Contender, so most of my gun money is going into barrels and reloading components. Other than making loud noises, I was also a pretty decent Bassist/vocalist and still play around abit. Of course that's pretty much making loud noises too.

I'm 36 years old and currently single (Divorced). I work as a Telecommunications Director for an east coast Stock Transfer Agent. It's good work and decent money. I keep my living expenses as low as possible and have been on a spending spree for new guns lately. :D Can't wait for that 50 BMG to show up!

41 divorced and remarried 2 children and a wife with the mind of one.
Pest Maintainence Engineer for 20 years
I don't believe in credit , so I'm forced to live within my means. I have no car note because I have a company truck, My only bills are rent insurance and broadband. That's all gonna end in the next few months when I buy a house (theres that damn credit thing)
I also don't drink or party my friends that do spend more on their hobby than I do on mine

Because of my job I frequent alot of pawn shops the owners know me and while they don't always give me great deals they do allow me to lay a way for extended periods, usually from 2 to 4 months. Also I rarely buy new a gun like a car loses value as soon as you pay for it.

I have a total of :
14 longguns
21 handguns
2 Black Powder Rifles
3 Black Powder Pistols

33, 1 wife, a 6 y/o daughter, 2 cars, 1 house. I am employed by the state government where I live (as a Security Officer). Only have 2 guns now, but I want more! :D

I'm 33 and have been married for a couple of years now. I have a baby girl and two stepdaughters with my wife. Recent additions to the household include a dog, a cat and a fish - all girls I might add. I work for a major airline so my employment status is always in limbo (or so it seems). Since I was a teenager I have more or less always seemed to acquire two guns per year, one around my birthday in May and one around the holiday season. Sometimes they were gifts, but more often I bought them for myself. I have always bought, sold and traded for newer acquisitions, so my invenotry of toys has always been in flux. As I have made some regretable errors in judgement in the past I have slowed down on selling and trading away my guns and now tend to keep what I have and save up for those "must haves".

I am 33 years old. I am an RN, my wife is a CPA. I do not have "unlimited" funds for "toys" but we do not have children yet, so I am getting as many as I can while I still can. We just bought a cabin, so I think I am going to be out of luck for a while now.

55, retired at 48 with 25 years on city PD. Military service prior to that 'thankless job'. Took up varmint hunting after retirement, now becoming more interested in handguns (again). Purshased my extra guns with parttime job money. Have a VERY understanding wife (they are hard to find).

48 y.o. Fem here. Burned out Social Worker, currently earning a so-so income as a Print media distribution contractor.
Married, 3rd time's the charm.

I have 2 grown children and so does my husband.

He had a HUGE collection when we married, and we agreed that the guns were NOT community property. However, I carry his p-32 when I'm working. His p-11 sits on my computer desk. His Buckmark .22 stays in my Range bag for target practice and plate matches. And one of his .45 ACPs is in my purse designed for concealed carry. They are still his, it's just that I seem to have taken possession of them. But if he wants to borrow one, I'll lend it to him.:neener:

I want to start spending my raise on handguns for my kids and start my OWN collection.

Holly

I'm 22 years old tomorrow. I am a full time college student @ the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University. I have a major in Management and a double minor in Economics and Finance. I also work 30 hours/week as a banker. I'm married to a beautiful girl. I will be entering the professional financial advisor (for commercial businesses, not individuals) field very soon. I keep very active by running 7 days/week and boxing 3 days/week. Concerning finances, instead of buying guns I've been spending my money on training. I'll probably spend about $1250 on training before Christmas. Also, after graduation, my wife and I will have enough money to put a down payment on a nice house. Although we will probably still keep saving so that we can get a VERY nice house for our first one. In addition, about a year ago I found it to be no problem to nearly pay cash for a C-Class Mercedes. I have nearly no debt beyond a few modest education loans. My credit card balances are always $0. The most fun thing is that I do not come from a wealthy family by any means. Yay capitalism!

Now most of my money seems to be going to Home Depot, instead of my friendly local FFL.

Great that'll help my stocks, which in turn will allow me $ for more firearms:D I really appreciate it. Maybe I'll be able to move up to 4 or 5 per yr.
