Seems like I have read that both the P22 and the Sig have zinc die cast slides. If this is true, then . Die cast slides do not belong on a REAL gun--even if it is "only" a 22. Reminds me of the cap guns we had as kids.
Does anyone have the Sig and a magnet handy??
I dont see what this really matters. I have a nice pic of a Springfield 1911 with a steel slide that snapped in two. So far, neither my P22 nor SIG have. I have seen one pic of a SIG that did have a slide failure over on the SIGforum. I believe they said it was due to how the can was attached to the gun, but I dont remember seeing a detailed report. I think its the same for any of them, "you pays your money, you takes your chances".
If you dont like the gun fine, dont buy it. If you dont own one and all you do is pass on more internet rumors, "shut up!", you have no right to bitch, and "I heards" dont count. If you do own one and it has been a problem, then by all means, lets hear it. At least you earned the right to bitch and have actual experience to back it up.
Usually, when these things turn into a bad mouth session, and its usually from the same old whiners in all the different threads, when you ask those that "actually own them", what their experiences are, the good responses always seem to out weigh the bad. But dont take my word on that, I heard it might could be an internet rumor.
Oh, without stripping it down, the magnet sticks to my slide, even the places the barrel isnt under it. If you want a detail strip and report, it'll cost ya.
