Someone nearby is trying to sell/trade a BNIB Winchester Miroku 1894 in 38-55. I may try a trade with a Lever 45LC ( I have four in this caliber). Specifically, I was reading where the bore diameter on a 1894 is .376" whereas the Marlin is .381". Is this statement generally true? If so, would most cast bullets favor the Winnie?
Other than that, your thoughts on reloading for this cartridge would be welcome.
Thanks

First of all slug the barrel so you know what the groove diameter is 38-55s are all over the place. My Pedersoli 1885 has a .380 groove and shoots .381 cast bullets very accurately. My rifle has a 12 twist so I cast 350 gr bullets from an accurate mold I have also used 260 gr bullets from Hunters Supply.
The rifle is a lot of fun to shoot with mild recoiI just wish my range was longer than 200 yards. I keep my loads around 1400fps.

Yes slug the barrel. My Old Model 94 built in 1896 was .379 and I ran .380 Beartooth gas checked bullets. Took some decent deer with her.
