This one just slipped past me. I didn't know until five minutes ago it was up for a vote.

Anywho, the bill to stop frivolous lawsuits against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, gun clubs, ranges, etc is scheduled for an Assembly vote this Tuesday, June 14. The bill number is AB56.

Please call your legislators and urge them to support it. Remember: the bill specifically allows for lawsuits due to faulty design or construction, criminal acts by manufacturers, distributers, dealers, etc, and only prohibits nuisance lawsuits over the CRIMINAL misuse of firearms.

Will Doyle veto it? Yeah, probably. After all, criminals are one of his largest constituencies.

Well, the bill passed 63 to 32, with 4 votes paired (a legislator can "push the button" for another).

I suspect that not enough people called their legislators. Maybe they don't recognize the threat that lawsuits pose to gun ownership.

I also suspect that Governor Doyle will veto the bill, given these numbers.

And none of this bodes well for passage of concealed carry. Gun owners in WI had better get on the ball, or we're going to have to wait at least two more years for concealed carry.

For cryin' out loud, all it takes is a phone call!
