Women and rifles

Women are imo more skilled with rifle and men with pistols, I see it over and over at the range.
We ourselves have some rifles, I spent a fortune on red dots and such just to have my wife ask to just leave the iron sights alone, my daughter loves the irons too so all the optics went to sleep in their boxes for now

When I first met my wife I had her carry one of my rifles to our new place. She carried it at arms length like it was a dirty diaper. Now a .22 feels like a toy pistol and she prefers to shoot what is now her .357. And she shoots it very, very, very scary well. Anniversery before last when I asked what she wanted to do, she said: "Can we go shoot?" After I finished crying, I said certainly. You should have heard the guys at work at that response. When she out shoots me, it makes me nothing short of proud.

I took a basic pistol course with my girlfriend a couple weeks ago (we've both shot plenty, but she's never had much formal instruction, so I decided to take the class with her). I outshot her most of the class, but when it came time to shoot the competition target at the end of the night, I'll be buggered if she didn't outscore me. I had a tighter group, but she put more rounds in the X ring.

Well.... we went today to see about getting her the pink lady she originally wanted.

When we got to the counter, she spotted a 637 S&W airweight. She didn't want anything to do with the pink lady after that. What a woman, don't know much about guns but is naturally drawn to quality. I think a tear just rolled down my cheek.

I'm still working with my wife. She is now pretty close to out shooting me and I can hardly wait. You see, I suspect the time will eventually come when I'll want a reliable and excellent shot by my side. As I watched her closing up her groups at the range last week, I thought, "won't be long now". The range officer said it is quite common for the women to out shoot the men, given any reasonable amount of guidance and practice time.

I've finally gotten my gun fearing/hating GF into shooting. I'm traveling now and just got off the phone with her. She was bummed that she'd lost track of time and made it to the range just as they were closing. She promised me she was going to make it by early tomorrow and send me pics of her best groups. I love her dearly :D. Tuning her pistol up to where she likes it will cost me some (more) money, but oh what a problem to have.
