I left CA both because of the gun laws and high expenses.
I am so close to CDA that I think I actually live here, actually I do. Great place, we love it here. It reminds me a bit of Anchorage where I grew up in Alaska except that is for the mosquitoes up there.
Glad the Lord has opened the door for us to stay here.

My wife and I are sick of burning summers that are now coming sooner and lasting longer. We have been getting 100 degree weather from April to October and 90 degree weather off and on all year. Nope, don't mind a little bit of snow up here in Idaho at all after 20 years in the high desert of CA.Unfortunately, now that we have gran' youngins', I can't budge the wife. Pennsy isn't bad with gun laws but we're turning into more of a blue state every year. Won't be long. Too much overflow from the east. Funny thing is, it's not the gun thing that's buggin' me. I'm just finally sick of winter!
I would never move from Texas! I'm not from Texas, but I got here as fast as I could. It seems that our ongoing conversation revolves not only the potential rape and pillage our federal constitution, but the advantages in gun ownership of some individual states. Some states like Texas and Arizona are proudly vocal about it, and frankly warmer weather sounds pretty good, even if I might need to learn spanish to get along.
Many of my friends say they are willing to fight from their doorstep to defend their rights, which sounds mighty romantic and feels satisfying in the imagination, but the reality of your family's comfort should be weighed. I might consider relocating to a friendlier state, but in this economy that could mean losing money on the house, risking job security and personal welfare, and also dealing with all the other transplants doing the same thing as you, just to be nearer to like-minded philosophy. People leave their state for a variety of reasons usually connected to something their local government screwed up, to avoid higher taxes, etc. People have had to migrate because of war.
Would you move for your beliefs or stay and do the "cold dead fingers" routine? Are we at war yet?
