You’re limited to 8 rounds, what’s your choice?

Of the guns I own.
442 in the left pocket with one hole plugged.
637 in the right pocket with one hole plugged.
I like my j frames

If this was the new world order for ease of carry I would go with a compact 1911 45acp. Or a S&W Shield 45 with an extended magazine. Good reason to buy a new gun:D

In such a situation I’d go back to .45.

Probably my HK45c since it’s lighter and easier to carry than a steel 1911, and shoots much better than an aluminum 1911 (for me).

In terms of revolvers, I hate shooting light ones and hate carrying heavy ones. Not even a consideration for me.

Hole plugged? Do you plug the lock hole?

They sell plugs so you can remove and plug up the hole. I believe that's what he's referring to.

There have been reports from people I trust and believe who experienced the internal lock locking itself. It's very rare but still legit possibility whether some want to accept or admit it. Like @WisBorn, I don't like that it's there, but it's not a disqualifier. One of my concerns is that if and when S&W does away with the lock, all of $800-$1000 Smith revolvers with the lock on them will instantly drop hundreds in market and trade value, and will almost stop appreciating in future value. That might not matter to most but it does to me. I own 4 Smiths with the IL, but I will probably not ever buy another especially with Colt and Ruger being good alternatives who seem to listen to what their customers want; whereas Smith only gives their semiauto customers what they desire.

Walter PPS M2, a fine and reliable pistol, which I once carried until I was nomlonger content with 8 rounds.

Title says it. Let’s say government restricts you to 8 rounds. So... 7 in the mag and 1 in the pipe, or 8 rounds max in a revolver. Mags modified to only take 7 rounds on originally higher cap mags.

Do the Glock boys still pack a Glock? Do the 9mm boys stick with it? Do the auto boys stick with an auto?

Curious as to what everyone chooses.

Me, I stick with a wheelgun mostly. Ruger Blackhawk most of the time and a smith N frame, 24 or 25 for other times. Throw in a spicing of 1911 in 45 auto and we are close... might as well have a cheap plinking option, I’ll take a smith 39 (modified mags to only take 7).

We do what we did in New York: go to court and get it thrown out on the grounds that the state failed to articulate a legally sustainable reason for the limit. But that doesn't fit the spirit of the question. The spirit of the question appears to be "can I make this work."

So because I can, I'm going to choose one of each 9mm, .45 ACP, and .357 Magnum.

For the 9mm, I choose a S&W M&P Shield, SKU 13219. For the .45, I choose a Springfield Armory Garrison, SKU PX9420. For the .357, I choose a 3-inch Colt Python. All of these are currently in stock at Bud's.

Hopefully we are all carrying ARs or other battle rifles at that point...

But on the basis of the original post, either a 1911 in 45ACP or a Tokarev. The latter may not be sexy, but they actually conceal well and they have a lot of power.

I typically carry an Astra A70 or a Rock Island Compact 1911. I'll be getting a S&W Shield EZ soon. Ever since I got the MP22, I developed a taste for a lighter carry. I'm picking the EZ becuase I'm already developing hand issues. Also trying to get the items I want now while still working . Once I'm on fixed income, there will be some soul searching prior to each purchase.

“I’ll continue to carry a Tec-9 with high capacity magazines, unless I can steal something better. Should give me an edge against those law abiding citizens I plan on victimizing”.
Said a recently released without bail multiple convictions felon….

Today, I often carry 7 with moon-clips to reload, and I have sometimes carried a backup gun. If I were to be restricted as proposed, I would immediately begin to carry at least three guns all the time, on principle.

I would try to get someone to make an 8 shot .32 H&R Mag revolver. Charter's Professional is a fine size and light, if it had to be a little bigger to get an 8th round, I would go for it if I had to.

For a semi auto, this gets me thinking on do I want a single stack in a recoiling power caliber like 10mm, go with a slimmer doublestack in a lower recoiling, but big bore like the .45 GAP in the Glock 38, or stick with the tried and true slimline 9mm?

I think I would go with a single stack, slim 9mm as those were all the rage before the P365 came about, but even then I can sort of see the appeal of the .45 GAP and what Glock was going for beyond just making a caliber with Glock in the abbreviation, the Glock 21 is a much larger pistol than a Glock 17.
