When I said the gov bans, it’s the only thought process I could come up with whereby there would be a limit placed on capacity. Not necessarily planning on what to get when we lose our rights, but if cartridge guns was out, a colt 1851 with 5.5” barrel sure looks good. So does the short barrel Remington, though I forget the model number. Probably a better choice with extra cylinders.

It’s interesting what everyone’s choices are and I appreciate everyone playing. Even those that played begrudgingly.

Be honest with y’all I thought this thread up sorta as a folly against 9mm. Everyone is 9 this high cap that. And I guess I see 9mm as being about worthless, with its only merit being the amount of bullets it has in reserve. Sorta a half hearted feud I have with the cartridge. That said I do really want a smith 39 or 639. So, go figure.

Title says it. Let’s say government restricts you to 8 rounds. So... 7 in the mag and 1 in the pipe, or 8 rounds max in a revolver. Mags modified to only take 7 rounds on originally higher cap mags.

Do the Glock boys still pack a Glock? Do the 9mm boys stick with it? Do the auto boys stick with an auto?

Curious as to what everyone chooses.

Me, I stick with a wheelgun mostly. Ruger Blackhawk most of the time and a smith N frame, 24 or 25 for other times. Throw in a spicing of 1911 in 45 auto and we are close... might as well have a cheap plinking option, I’ll take a smith 39 (modified mags to only take 7).
9mm because it's literally the most common handgun round around here so ammo availability is the best. As for making model of the firearm doesn't really matter to me.

In the hotter months I carry a Beretta Nano with an eight round mag anyway. I suppose maybe I'd look into the new Beretta APX A1 carry, pretty similar but it's cut for an optic. Beyond that I'd just carry whatever gun I normally would, presumably the gun companies will make mags to conform with any law no matter how stupid.

An 8-round limit would affect my Glocks, but, not being a “Glock boy,” I would not be adversely affected. My daily, default, primary handgun tends to be a six-shot revolver. For the occasions that a tiny auto is used as a pocket gun, well, a Seecamp LWS-32 holds less than eight, total. My first handgun, 40 years ago, at age 21, was a single-column-mag 1911. I still like, and use, full-sized, all-steel 1911 pistols, some of the time, especially when accuracy, at longer range, is considered important.

I do “up-gun” with Glocks, now and then, often by bringing the Glock as a second gun, though in some abusive outdoor environments, such as seawater or salt marshes, the Glock may be the only handgun, not necessarily for its capacity, but due to its corrosion resistance, and the ease of breaking it down for a complete decontamination and cleaning. I am not a fan of the ergonomics of single-column-mag Glocks 36, 43, and 48, so, whether I would continue to use my existing 9mm and .45 Glocks would depend upon whether reliable 7-rounds mags could be engineered.
