I can get 4 boxes (325) of this ammo for $85($21.25 / box) from a guy I know. Is this a good deal?

The ammo seems to get decent reviews. Let me know.

It's descent ammo and optimized for auto loader function. That cones to 6.54 cents per round and you are not going to do much better than 8 cents a round right now according to the ammo search engines.

Mike

I use it for 50 yrds bullseye line. Using SV at 25 yrds I don't have to adjust sight.

Yeah that's a good price for Federal Auto-Match ammo. Runs okay in all of my semi-autos with fairly decent accuracy.

It's on sale at Dick's this week; Buy one ($24.99), get one half off, limit of 4/person. That makes it about $37.50 for two, which is a better deal than you're getting.

It's okay ammo, runs semi-autos, but it's the dirtest thing I run next to Wolf Match.

You wanna see dirty, run Remington Thunderbolt.

I called my local Dick's and that particular store does not carry Federal AutoMatch. Besides, I swore off Dick's and they are their name.

I saw stacks of it at my local Wal-Mart over the weekend, for $17.50 a box. As others have stated, it is the dirtiest .22 I shoot (I have sworn off all ammo made by Remington :fire: ).

It's the main 22 ammo my kids (and me too when they share) have been shooting lately. I've been paying mid $20's to about $30 depending on where I purchase. Some boxes are better than others. We had a box a couple months ago that had about a dozen or more misfires. Have also had some that would shoot sonic most of the time with an occasional subsonic shot.

This was the first .22 I have seen at my Wal-Mart in almost a year. It is coming back, slowly. That being said, if you need .22, and it is rare in your area, that is probably not too bad of a deal.

It's $25/box (325) at SGAmmo right now. Anytime you can undercut their price you are doing okay

It's not a bad deal, but....

just last weekend my local Walmart had @12 boxes of the Federal Auto Match 325 rounds, for $17.94 each.

I definitely see the .22LR supply getting back to "normal" again. I routinely see CCI in Walmart and about six different brands in my local Cabela's, all reasonably priced. They had 500 round Thunderbolt packs for $28.

I too, refuse to by anything made by Remington.

I haven't seen a single round of .22lr at Walmart yet this year, and I look at least once a week. Just, while we are on the topic.

The only 22 ammo I see at walmart are shotshells. However, they did dedicate shelf space to several different brands and types of 22.

Federal Auto-match can be great, good, or just so-so. It all depends on the lot # you get. I used to use it for Bullseye competition as a fallback to CCI standard velocity, and it can be very accurate. FWIW, Federal seems to have problems from time to time with their mfg. process, and you might have lots with a lot of bloopers. Their crimping process can be iffy. If that happens, I know from experience that they will gladly refund your cost without any hassle.

Regardless, it is however, about the best "bulk" 22LR ammo out there when it's working good. Others can comment re: price. I'm just speaking as to performance.

I have found Remington and Aquila .22 ammo to be rather dirty; cleanest is CCI and Wolf Match Target.

I'm almost positive this is the same stuff I've seen at our Wal-marts lately, for around $17.
I've been seeing the 50-rd boxes of CCI more frequently too, as well as CCI 22magnums in a couple Wal-marts recently.

Buy, i have been using some purchased in 2014 and some 2016 and all goes bang with decent accuracy.

Wal-Marts here in south-central Florida no longer stock .22LR ammo, but AutoMatch comes up fairly often at Bass Pro and at the main gun showroom at which I shop. It runs between $20-25 per box (325) depending on in which store it is (Bass Pro runs less; the gun shop, more.)

I have scads of it here, some of which got online, but have only run it in two guns, both inexpensive pieces. It runs surprisingly well in my $99 Mossberg 702, and pretty equally so in my Taurus PT-22. In the latter, I had one case in which the recoiling slide missed the next-up round in the mag and closed on an empty chamber.

I didn't notice any "extra dirt" in either gun when compared to CCI MiniMags, which is pretty much the only other .22LR round I shoot.

i have never seen any ammo that varies brick to brick as much as federal bulk.
out of maybe 20 bricks, i even found one that was match quality.
it won't feed in my 22/45. it's dirty.
but i keep buying it when the price is right. mostly, i use it for point shooting from a revolver.
at 10 yards i think any ammo is about the same.
it is a step up from thunderturds which i won't shoot even if free.
not for serios work, tho.

Yes that is a fair price. Best I've seen in the past year is $19.95 + 11% tax = $22.14 X 4 = $88.56. That is at Scheels in KC.

stove pipes occasionally but overall i like it. it does cause some minor leading in my victory not so much my ruger.

I came across one box of it just the other day at Walmart for $17.

$21 a box isn't a terrible price though. I don't think it would be worth the time and gas hunting around all your different Walmarts to save 16 bucks.
