went to cal ranch lookin for a deal on 22rf ammo. found one of my favorites on sale: $19.99 for a box of 325. bought two boxes. had to take the automatch for a test drive with the k-22:

in spite of the nut behind the trigger, the automatch works fine in the k-22. if i factor out the 5-10 mph crosswind, this ammo is pretty darn accurate.

just thought i'd let you all know about the deal on 22lr ammo. it's about time!

Cheapest I've seen around here was $24.95 IIRC, but it seems to be good stuff. I have a couple boxes of it from last year and haven't shot that much of it yet but what I have shot has been excellent in a couple different 22's.

I have a 10/22 that really likes it and it has been pretty good in my other 22's as well. I would get boxes with a lot of duds once in a while during the panic. Not sure if that is still an issue.

Automatch
Federal blue box
Blazer
Mini mag

Those are the only 22 ammo I buy anymore.

Was paying about $25 for a 325 round carton of Federal Automatch awhile back. Accuracy was alright in most of my guns but did have a lot of duds to contend with. Pretty much stick with my tried and true CCI MiniMags and Wolf Match Target.

Automatch must have gone down hill... Pre-Sandy Hook, I was shooting a box or two a week year round. I don't recall ever having two duds in one box. Back then, I was getting it as low as $10.68 a box shipped.... I still have a case with the price on the end

Yeah, were these duds spread out among all the guns or was it particular one? I use this stuff all the time and never have any issues. Hope this isn't a sign of a quality drop.

This stuff has some really bad batches. Had 1 box that was so bad I threw it out after I had to drive a bullet out of a rifle. You could actually hear the difference in sound between rounds.

My favorite general purpose 22 ammo is CCI standard, closely followed by Federal automatch.

It's on shelves locally for $19.99. 5 years ago it was $13-15, then up to $26.

Glad it's come down.

That was all I could buy in any respectable quantity during the drought. Prior to then, I'd probably not even heard of it.

Started shooting some of it a couple of months back, but have only run it in a couple of guns, including a Taurus PT22 and a Mossberg 702. It gave me a very good impression, running in those guns as good (as far as I can tell) as my MiniMags.

Probably experienced 8 to 10 duds per 325 round carton. Happened across the board in both semi-autos and revolvers.

wow! i guess i'll have to run through the entire two boxes and see how many misfires i get. maybe the quality has changed since the obama drought.

well, my brother came up from the valley for the weekend and helped me shoot one box of automatch. he had one stovepipe in his mk III, i had three stovepipes in my mk I shooting 300 rounds. no other failures of any kind (the stovepipes were caused by two dry slides).

i was shooting golf balls @ 20 yards and was hitting them regularly (almost 50 percent). anyway, i will be purchasing another two boxes of this stuff this weekend.

Bought 3 boxes a while back ( almost bought a case) for testing. Ran it throught 4 rifles and a pistol. Groups were terrible at 25 and 50 yds. Shot a control group from each gun with CCI MM's. Sent pic to Federal Customer Service. They pre paid for me to send it back and refunded me plus $10. Never Auto Match again.
Problem is even plinking ammo (Blazer price point) I expect to shoot one hole 5 shot groups at 25yds.

I have had nothing but issues with auto match in smaller semi-autos. Most of the issues are failure to feed or eject with a few failures to fire tossed in. When shooting them thru model 17s there's no problems.
