Would you buy a pistol to fit a holster you owned? I have a very nice cross draw holster for a1911 Commander size pistol, but I do not own any Commander size 1911s. So, would you?

If money wasn't an issue, and if I saw a 1911 that I didn't already have (Let's say a 9mm Commander sized pistol is not in my safe) then yes.

If it's a chore to save up, or if it is taking funds from something else more necessary or wanted, I would sell the holster and put the $ towards the more pressing need.

I like Commanders, so I wouldn't require any convincing, but then again I already have a couple. If that's a mode of carry you want to use and you're a 1911 guy, you have the perfect excuse to get yourself a nice Commander.

If I had a holster from Del Fatti, or maybe a maker that was well respected, but is no longer available, or at least readily available, probably.

If I had a production holster such as Galco, DeSantis, Bianchi, Hume, El Paso Saddlery, etc., probably not.

Sure I would. I bought a 9mm gun because I got a good deal on a set of Lee reloading dies in 9mm and had been collecting a ton of 9mm cases even though I didn't have a 9mm gun at the time. Now I'm finding lots of .380 cases and I'm debating on getting a .380 gun or recycling the brass (not likely the latter).

I am also debating getting a .380 (okay, maybe "currently shopping" is a better choice than "debating") because I have more than, say, a dozen empty .380 cartridges...

So if I had a holster for something I didn't have... I'd be looking for sure!

I would. I have a holster for a Beretta 92FS that I got for my service sidearm. So I may just buy one to put the holster back in service rather than sell it. I am keeping my eyes open at lease.

Let’s assume that if I have a holster for a Commander that I once owned a commander. (I do and I did)

There may be some reason that I no longer own a Commander. (There is)

So, NO!

With some other handgun, maybe.

I have a couple extra rounds (2) of old .45 ammo. So I bought a Guncrafter Ind 1911 and a Glock 41.

So yeah, sure. Any way you want to rationalize it. There's nothing wrong with just wanting another 1911 or Glock.

The reason that I bought my first M1 and my first 03A3 was because I had found a really good deal on Danish AMA M2 milsurp ammo in both enblocs and stripper clips and bought a bunch of both even though, at the time, I owned no rifles that could shoot any of it ...

... so, yeah, I probably would. :)

Sure why not? Never has taken much arm twisting on my part to have a reason to buy a new gun.

I got rid of my commander size 1911 but kept my Garrett Industries holsters, they're the perfect mix of kydex with leather liner. Low and behold, my Browning hi power and FM hi power fit perfectly. Get a hi power?

Not unless I really wanted to carry a Commander 1911 in cross draw.

When I bought a used j-frame the owner included a couple leather holsters with it, but I discovered neither of them fit. When I later got a k-frame I found out one of one holster fits it perfectly, but still have no idea what goes in the other. I might have to buy a lot of guns if I wanted to find a gun to match that holster! Honestly if I knew what it went to, I'd probably just sell the holster.

No. I'd sell it, and fund other desires.

That said, I did buy a second xd mod 2 because I already had two holsters (one leather and one kydex) for the first xd mod 2, and because I already had a few extra magazines. ( with the gear up promotion now I have quite a few magazines!)

Lol. Did the same thing. Had a bandolier of Turk 8mm. Picked up a K98 to shoot it with
Thought I was the only one

Why not, I bought a .44 Special revolver because I got some .44 Spl brass in a trade, and it looked like a cool caliber. About three decades ago. Still love my .44 Spl. :)
