Pulled bullets 25% discount

American Reloading has another 25% discount going for 9mm/380 projectiles. Not everybody likes to deal with pulled bullets since you need to verify/weigh each one of them, but I have ordered 500 of the 124gr Gold Dot bullets for $44.99 less 25% and no shipping = $33.74. They also have some HST's for a little bit more, but I decided to go with the Gold Dots since I can actually purchase them new if I like them.

I will follow up with some test results once I have received the bullets.

I have been lucky with their bullets so far. I try to stick to the jacketed bullets since plated bullets seems to be undersized. This will be the first time ordering Gold Dots, so I will have to check the diameter and setback to see if they can be used in 357sig after being pulled.

If you go to the site https://americanreloading.com/en/ I see they still show the discount code of 25% "cold25".

I bought some plated and jacketed bullets from them and has been happy with what I received so far. My experience with plated bullets I have loaded and pulled showed that plated bullets always decrease a bit in diameter, so I try and stay away from buying pulled plated bullets. The jacketed bullets I have received seems good, with just a few of the I couldn't load.

Gold Dots are plated however, so I wounder how they are after being seated and pulled. Price is right.

Their pictures normally is a good reflection of the actual product and I did not see any pull or crimp marks on them. They are some sort of plated but should hold up to high velocities. All the good bullets are gone now.

I received the pulled Gold Dot bullets this week. Shipping was slow, but I could see through tracking that the issue was with the USPS.

The bullets is what I expected based on the pictures posted by American reloading. They were tarnished with something black on them. I weighed all the bullets and everyone were around 124gr. Some of them came out to over 125gr, and when I inspected them I could see that the HP cavity was filled with the same black stuff mixed with media or dirt or something.

I decided to put the bullets into the tumbler for a few hours, just to clean up most of the dirt. I then went through the bullets and picked out the dirt stuck in the cavity. There were probably about 5% I had to clean out, and maybe some of them was from my tumbler.

A selection of the bullets were also measured and it seems that the bullets retained a good .3555" or .356" diameter, which is good. Based on the profile and length, I'm not sure if they will work in 357sig since I will have to load them with a 1.15" COL. I have used this COL before, but I will have to put a few dummy rounds through my setback test to make sure they will work.

Overall I think these bullets look great for the price and should load fine in 9mm.

If so ...I shot a few hundred back when I was experiencing with the 357 SIG when I first got mine .... they shot really well ... their price and not being easy to find pushed me to the Hornady XTP... which I could get without any problem and being cheaper also ....

Post some photos when you load a few of these ... I will order some of these if they are a "go" for you and the SIG...

JimKirk, I can't think that these are the same since the 357sig ammo shows a 125gr bullet, where 9mm shows a 124gr bullet. These are 124gr bullets and will be a tight fit in the 357sig. I am definitely going to try them out and will report back. I have not done my setback test with it yet, but with the profile I see it seems it will have to be loaded with a 1.15" COL, or even maybe a bit longer.

I finally made time to test my first loads using the pulled Speer GDHP bullets. These bullets are pulled so I didn't expect super accuracy, but was hoping for reasonably good accuracy. The standard COL for these bullets in 9mm is 1.120", but I decided to load them to 1.100" to closer resemble some of my other tested loads. I started with PowerPistol, since it is a powder I like in 9mm, and I normally see two different accurate loads for a specific bullet, at around 5.3gr and 5.6gr. I think these pulled bullets performed very well, and was consistently accurate towards the higher charges. I will probably go a bit higher with the charge just to see if there is any drop-off in the accuracy. Following are the results from the testing:

The next powder I will work up some loads with will be BE-86. With BE-86 I normally try to get to SD velocities since BE-86 is well suited for it due to the flash suppressant. My target loads will be from 5.2gr to 5.7gr initially, and then I will reevaluate to see if I want to go higher. From the testing data I have seen with GDHP is that 9mm comes in at 1150fps and 9mm+p at 1220fps from a 4" barrel.

eo1bart, thanks for sharing your load information. My targeted velocity will be lower that what you tested with your 1" longer barrel. Did you identify an accurate load, or did they all perform about the same?
