I am looking for a leather OWB holster for my 2.5 inch 686 that won't break the bank. Can anyone make a suggestion?

I bought a S&W branded holster similar to this when I bought my 686 4" back in 1986. I think I paid about $12-15 for it at the LGS where I bought the gun. It ain't for sale however.

That's what basic holsters cost.

This is what I'd consider breaking the bank

No, that's not what basic holsters cost. The Bianchi in the other post is about $50 and the Galco combat master is around $60. I have shopped around some since I made the original post. This will be mainly a range holster and $50 or less is my goal. I am disabled and on a fixed income and $100 is a lot of money to me.

DeSantis Speed Scabbard. Google is your friend. Shop on line and you will find one for about $50.

None of them are mine. I was just suggesting.

I have a 3 inch 686 and I have been looking too.

Those are nice, but you must have missed the part where I said " that won't break the bank" $80-100 is more than I care to spend

And just how were we supposed to know that would be "breaking the bank" for you? o_O

You might find it's worth it to pinch a few pennies for some solid gun leather. It'll last you the rest of your life and will work better.

I got a Desantis thumb break model from Optics Planet for about 45 bucks. I have been happy with it, check them out.

For cheap the Uncle Mike's are 15 to 17 dollars at Midway.
I was looking for leather
I may go with the Galco Combat Master. I have one for my SP101 and like it.
I always hate when you search for a holster for use with a revolver and the picture shows that model holster for a semi auto. I like the cylinder to be in line with the belt line. If the cylinder rides much above the belt level the gun tends to sag outward

I was in a gunshop about 50 miles from home the other day. They had a DeSantis thumb break scabbard that fits my 686 and it was only $56, so I got it. It was pretty tight but I wrapped it in a thin piece of cloth, managed to get it snapped and let it sit for a day and a half. Its going to work nicely. Never used a thumb break holster before, so will have to get used to it.
