And my Model 100 Winchester. It was my first big game rifle, and my folks bought it for me in 1964 when I was 14 years old. Mine's a .308 Winchester, but dad had a Model 100, .308, and a .243 a little later on.
I can't remember hearing the term "assault rifle" back in those days. But it seems to me, the anti-rights jerks started making noise not long after JFK was shot. Which is rather ironic I guess, because Oswald had a 6.5 Carcano, very similar to the one my mom used for deer hunting. And I don't remember anyone saying my mom's Carcano was an "assault rifle." Nevertheless, the noise the anti-rights jerks was making increased in volume after Bobby Kennedy was shot, and GCA '68 was the result. I remember that.
