I've been kicking around the idea of buying either a 92FS or a PT92/99 for some time now. Now I'm looking at the FNX-9, which appears to me to be a polymer version of the 92FS. (After a couple years of carrying my 4 lb Ruger Redhawk, I'm ready for a light weight gun.)
What I like most about the DA/SA format is the safety/decocker. The FNX-9 has it in the correct place (the frame) as opposed to Beretta's slide. (This is also why the Taurus is on my list.) I like the Beretta. Carried one in the Air Force. (Would probably buy one for sentimentality.)
Anyway, the two guns seem to be functionally same or similar. Prices are close enough to not be an issue. The FN is 11 ounces lighter. Which way would you go, and why? Anyone here own an FNX-9 have any input?
Oh yeah. Use would be primarily range gun/USPSA and to keep in a bug out bag. Probably never used as an EDC.
