Thoughts on this gun...Kimber gurus step inside!

They are basically a copy of the Sig 938. They are not really my style. They are lower capacity and heavier than a P365 or Hellcat and not truly a 1911. I’d rather go Officer or CCO if I wanted a 1911 for carry or I’d go P365 or Hellcat if I wanted a small 9mm for CCW.

A few years ago I was looking at both the Kimber Micro and the Sig P938. After talking to people with experience with both and multiple gun shops along with reading a lot of online reviews, I went with the Sig P938. The Sig at that time had better reviews. I have been very happy with my Sig. They are basically the same and is the Springfield Armory 911. They are all copies of the old Colt Mustang. The Colt Pony was first built using Star parts. Colt then refined the design when they came out with the Mustang.

I purchased a Kimber Micro .380 stainless for my wife because she liked the way it felt in her hand. I shot it a couple of times. They are nice little guns and great for pocket carry. I thought the SIG P238 was a nicer gun.. but I got her what she wanted. That's half the battle. If you like the fit and feel of the Kimber.. by all means get it.

I handled one awhile back when I was looking for a new carry gun. It seemed like a very nice gun to me.
I ended up buying a Sig P938 Legion. It just suited me better.

Similar story as others here, I went with the SA 911 9mm.




Just to add, I used to be a huge Kimber fan. I had 30 of their 1911’s from the 90s until the taxman caught up to me and I had to sell off about 20.
Then when Kimber came out with the Solo I wanted one really bad, until I heard all of nightmares about them. Since then I’m having trust issues with Kimber micro sized 9’s.

I've had 2 of the Kimber Solos because I just loved the design. The first one I had ran like a Singer sewing machine. I left a friend talk me about of it though. I few years later I found another one for a great price and I bought it. That thing would not run worth a darn. I tried all the little tips and tricks that were recommended online and nothing seemed to work, so I sent it on down the road. The biggest complaint I with the Solo was the trigger. It was horrendous. It was impossible to predict when the trigger would break. There was no defined wall. It was just mush the entire pull. I don't know if these Micros are like that or not though.

My B-N-Law carries a Kimber Micro 9 and loves it. I traded for this thing yesterday. The lady friend I traded with said she can’t rack the slide, I have no problem with it. I’ve not shot or done anything with it except fondle it. All of the build seems to be overkill. Everything is built for stout. Whether I end up liking it or not I plan to keep it forever. It’s just a damn good looking gun. I’ll probably only carry it in a shoulder rig. It weighs 10 1/2 oz more than my River LC9S Pro loaded. I have plenty enough britches problem with it

No experience with the Kimber Micro 9 but can fully recommend the SIG P238 and P938.

Do not want to pocket carry a cocked and locked pistol---I'll keep my Kahr K9 thank you.

I have both the P938 and the Kimber Micro 9. I enjoy shooting both of them. For some reason I have gravitated to shooting the Micro 9 more often. It is in my gunbag and the Sig is in the safe. Could not really explain why. I know that sounds stupid but it is the way it is. Both have good sights and both have eaten all ammo that they have been fed. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Exactly this.

I don't care for small 9mms in general but I found the 365 easier to shoot and with less punishing recoil (so to speak) than the 938 and micro 9.

If I wanted a small 1911, an officer like a Colt Defender or Ultra Carry or, better yet, DW ECO would be my call. Still very easy to carry, especially if you get some slim grips from VZ or similar, and shoots much better.

A few months ago Rural King had the 9mm and .380 Kimber Micro on sale at $369. I've kicked myself repeatedly for not buying one. I love my P238 but haven't fallen in love with the 9mm versions enough to pay near MSRP.

I had a choice between a 238 and a Ruger .38 LCR on a $10 raffle years back. Went with the Ruger.

Wish I got the Sig.

Personal preference here, but I like the rubber grips on my P938 over the cheese grater grips on the Springfield 911's that I have handled.

Thats a good looking outfit. Are they putting aluminum triggers in them or is it silver plastic?

I definitely feel the Kimbers both look and feel better than the 911 and 938, but shoot about the same for me.

That is the only complaint I have with the p238/938...pretty sure the 911 also has plastic trigger.

The Kimber has an aluminum trigger but does not have night sites standard while the Sig has night sites and plastic trigger as standard. Having the night sites from the factory was more important to me than an aluminum trigger was. The P938, Micro 9, and 911 are pretty much the exact same pistol. It is the small things that differ such as sights or trigger or grip choice. I do know that there is a slight difference between the Kimber and Sig magazines also. You won't go wrong with any of the three. It boils down to features you want and price. When I bought my Sig it was either that or the Kimber and I wanted night sights.

I have the P938 Nitron model which I carry daily.

I preferred the night sights too. $25 for an aluminum trigger upgrade was worth it for me.

I know nothing about the Micro 9, but I have been carrying a Kimber UCC II in .45 ACP for the last ten years. After the first 500 rounds it has operated perfectly.

The trigger upgrade is a lot cheaper than installing night sights. The design of these micro pistols is very similar to the design of the Star PD and Firestar pistols. I have two Firestars, 9mm and .40S&W. The Firestars fall in between the micro pistols and my compact 1911 as far as size/weight.
