Im bored on nightshift and want to hear your guy's and gal's ideas for a true no limit 1911 build. The wilder the better and more than 1 is definitely encouraged.

1. 5.7x28 custom for carry 4 inch barrel (5 total with built in compensator.)
Tritium night sights
Single stack
Entire gun slimmed way down for 5.7 in a single stack
Monolith slab sides and dust cover (I love the look, love the weight)
30 lpi checkering on basically every surface on the lower possible.
Top of the slide wouldn't be rounded off, just a 45 degree cut on each side giving it an ultra sleek look
Full length guide rod
Completely blacked out except for some very high figure slim flame maple grips. Flat short trigger.

2. A 1911 built around distance shooting. A 10mm necked down to 224 but chambered to accept long 80gr bullets. (Think 224 boz but for heavy bullets) Single stack
6 inch barrel (7 total with built in compensator)
Gold bead front sight, adjustable target rear sight
Monolith slide /dust cover.
All the same fixings as #1 for the slide / trigger design.

3. A GI version in 10mm

Let's hear everyone elses ideas.

Basically a Dan Wesson DWX is my ideal 1911.

Toss on a nice threaded barrel and a comp, tune it, maybe even in 10mm.

Also, just know they have a budget BRNO out, I think it's only $5grand instead of $9grand hahaha

Actually, my Kimber Pro Carry II is almost my idea of a perfect 1911... but I like simplicity. I say 'almost' because I do wish it had front strap checkering and night sights like my Pro Eclipse II has.

If I was to pull out the Unlimited Checkbook... I would want one of those Colt reproduction 1911's (not the A1) with the carbonia bright bluing. Makes my heart go pitter-patter every time I see one.

Yeah, those should be winners. I'm happy with my EDC X9 but had the DWX come out early 2020 I'd probably have one of those instead.

Spitballing a perfect single stack, I'd want something like the Wilson Carry Comp but with a shorter barrel so the whole package isn't any longer than 4"-4.25" for the slide/barrel/comp. In aluminum, in .38 super or 10mm, with an Ed Brown bobtail.

On a budget I bought a Remington 1911R1 S a few years ago. While it is a no frills 1911, no ported trigger or hammer it is the best shooting gun I own. It has the best trigger I have ever pulled and is dead on accurate to 25 yards. I have 2 other 1911s, a Kimber Aegis Elite Ultra and a Colt made in 1918. The Remington is the better gun of the 3. I’ve pondered “upgrades” to the Rem. But I can think of nothing that would make it better. 96324-1911-R1-SS-96324-Profile-R-96324.png

I’d send a carbon steel Colt or SA slide & frame to a Guild pistolsmith and my only instruction to the ‘smith would be to build it with a gold-bead front sight and then you’re on your own to set it up to shoot good targets.

Having been a 1911 fanboy since I was 5 I always think if I win the lotto I would have to have at least one of the semi custom 1911's. Something like an Ed Brown or such. Another I have looked at was the ones made by STI for a while. Double stack, in 10mm. One I was looking at was over 3K. Ouch. I could certainly just buy one if I really wanted to. Wife would kick a little about it.:D I so far don't as the 1911's I have already shoot better than I do.

When you get to a certain level in the world of custom guns it is not just about how good it shoots. I have $300 guns that out shoot me from a mechanic accuracy stand point. #bespokeworkofart

My Grandpa had a Singer. I held it once when I was 10 or 11. Didn't appreciate it all at that age. He sold it real cheap.

I can't say Singer cause I know if I had one, I'd immediately sell it for the massive price tag and buy probably just a stainless DW and pocket the rest of the money. DW is good enough for me, and at a great price point for what your getting imo.

DWs are very good production 1911s. They are a gateway drug. Things like this my first DW which I bought before they exploded in popularity...

Peak your interest in things like this... Don Williams Full House custom 1911. Currently the best 1911 in the safe.

You would have to use Grizzly frames to accept those long cartridges.

Me?
I would show a top gunsmith my serviceable but homely IDPA ESPs and tell him to give me the same ergonomics with impeccable quality. Considering my age, I would apply inducements for him to drop whatever he was working on and do my job right away.

In the meanwhile, I would get that Laugo Alien and see if a different operating system was The Answer.
