That appears to be a nice bright male (the upper jawbone is behind the eye) Coho (silver) salmon, about 7-8 lbs. It's not a Chinook (king) salmon as the lower jaw gumline is not blackish.
I live in SW WA State these days and have not fished in over two decades, but I spent 34 years in Alaska and caught many, many salmon using either a rod & reel or a dipnet. The seasons here in WA are woefully short, but back in the day in Alaska we filled our freezers with frozen and smoked "fish" (salmon) for the Winter. It was considered "meat" fishing back then with large daily/possession limits, especially when the run as going strong. My favorite is Sockeye (red) salmon; my daughter in Alaska last month sent me 5# of smoked Sockeye for my birthday. I am trying to only eat a small amount at a time so as to make it last a bit longer. I am not have a lot of luck doing so.
Nice fish!

Jim
