I've read in places like this that many Hollywood movies used Star A or B models, told that they handle blanks better. OK, not sure why though. With the advent of external extractors it's harder to tell it is or is not a 1911 type.
Often, I believe it was a matter of the 9mm being more easily
adapted to blanks. In any case, the types of plugs or
constriction of barrels has improved. Hollywood armorer
Terence Morgan has described the various barrel
constriction methods that are used for pistols, sub and
full sized machine guns and shotguns. He mentions that
the wrong constriction matched to the wrong power of the
blank (full, half, quarter) can be very dangerous.
A so-called ''armorer" in Des Plaines, IL. using a full power
blank in a 1911 damaged the gun very seriously. I was at
the local range where it was being tested by the "armorer."
It was a "good grief" loud bang.
