Hey guys

what’s your most reliable and dependable guns?

For me it has to be the AK and Glock 17. Fun fact about those two guns is that both are Foreign design but both are built in the USA.

Neither of my current AKs has ever had a malf, as far as I can remember, but the same can be said for 2 of my ARs......

My SIG P6 has never jammed on me over several thousand rounds downrange, nor has my Astra A600- though Ive only shot that one perhaps three hundred times. Not sure I can say that for any of my other autos, though Ive sold off all the truly unreliable ones.

Of course, most of my handguns are revolvers, so theres that.:)

Sig 226 and one of my ARs have never had an issue, so I guess those. All of my Glocks have had at least one stoppage and the Sig has not (yet).

My AK has one impressive one when the Wolf ammo case neck expanded and got stuck in the throat, had to stomp the charging handle to get it out and then pry part of the case out with a dowel and pliers.

Not the gun's fault at all, but the vast majority of my various stoppages are the ammos fault so it counts.

All are equally reliable and dependable. The differences are more in enjoyment and purpose and convenience and availability (including supply of ammo on hand).

Gun malfunctions are based in ammo, magazines, and operator error, which frequently tries to supply substandard ammo for military based designs. And then practices the habit of dropping magazines from sight level height onto hard ground or concrete because "competition."

Yet we try to rate the firearms reliability as it suffers this abuse and argue which is the better at it. For the most part I don't see people kicking the lever on a old Winchester to force it to feed or extract.

As for specific choices I don't popularize the AK precisely because of it's continued role in spreading communism and as a tool of terrorists. Glock isn't a bad choice but there are better and for the most part it's simply stagnant in design with no major improvements in decades. It's now the custom hot rod range gun and there is serious competition taking away it's sales both LEO and MIL.

I will continue to build my AR's and enjoy my SIG. Times change, it's no longer 1995.

All of my guns run reliably save for maybe an occasional dud with .22lr or malf induced from a really dirty .22lr bolt but kept clean my 10/22 runs like a top, I'd be pretty confident with any of them but my Glocks and AR's go to the top of the list when I think of most reliable.....

Well, for conventional firearms I'm gonna go with the Marlin 336 and the S&W Model 19. In semi-automatic, it's the SIG P-226 and the Colt M-4 carbine.

I despise commie guns and will never own any firearm that was used against me when I deployed during my military career. So no AK platform for me, ever.

I’ve had them used against me, and a LOT bigger “commie stuff” too.

But I’ve come to realize placing those emotions towards the tools is hoplophobic silliness.

“It’s not the gun, but the..” well you know the rest.

From a purely pragmatic viewpoint, if in the gravest extreme an antiquated levergun and double action revolver wouldn’t be what I’d want, Americana and dripping with nostalgia placed firmly aside.

Like many others, I don't own a non-reliable firearm. When encountered, they don't stick around long.

Push comes to shove though, IF I had to choose a combo:

HK P30L in 9mm with V0 LEM (light LEM conversion, maintaining the hammer and de-cocking feature):

Colt "post-ban" "LEO Only" marked LE6920:

Both have been through multiple defensive shooting classes. Neither have ever had an issue.

A couple come to mind for me. For large game and long range, I like my M700 '06 backed up with an SAA in 357; for shorter range, I trade the '06 for the 30-30. For small game/plinking, I like my Marlin 39A paired with my Ruger Single Six. None of the guns I've mentioned have given me any issue through several years and many hundreds of rounds. I don't own any semi-auto rifles in calibers over 22lr, or any centerfire autoloading handguns. Nothing against AR/AK/Glock/Sig/etc, I just don't have a need or desire to own any of them.

My most reliable/dependable?

All of them. I don't have any problems with any of my pistols, shotguns, or rifles.

Well...OK, one rifle. I have a bolt action, of all rifles, that has an occasional problem extracting and I don't know why. Eventually, I'll get around to replacing the extractor on the bolt (which I can't see any problems with on inspection or comparison with others) to eliminate that as a possibility. But even so, I could swear the cases I end up tapping our are a wee bit snug. One day I'll remove the extractor and do a series of firings where I tap all the cases out and see if any are snugger than others.
