This really made my day! I am hopefully the Ruger will get this right. By only releasing models when they are ready, versus trying to launch the whole line at once, I am hopeful that they are on the right track. It looks like a nice rifle to me. The spiral fluted bolt might cause some controversy, but it makes sense. I can't wait to see one in the flesh.

That's a shame. A lever gun in .45-70, at any price, just isn't something I see in my future. I like my shoulder right where it is.

You don't have to shoot hot loads in them. When loaded to traditional black powder power levels recoil is very tolerable. About 308 level. Of course, if loaded to the hottest power levels you're in 375 H&H recoil territory.

I've owned several Marlin 45-70's over the years. They are popular right now, but I'd not go back to one. In the 1890's 30-30 was considered much more powerful. If I'm getting 308 recoil I'll take the much better 308 performance, and if I'm getting hit with 375 recoil, I'll take a 375.

What a shame
I was truly hoping they'd continue the
tradition Marlin started many years ago of
building working rifles for the working man,
instead of building and marketing collector
pieces
I don't know about other people, but I can't
afford to sling a grand and a half around
for a tool to wag around in the mud and the
rain and briars and bounce it around in a
truck or a buggy
What a true shame.
We'll miss you Marlin. . . . .

And yet Ruger stock is down again today by a buck and a half a share. Guess the news got out kind of late. I guess we will see what happens the next few days. I've been holding onto my shares and losing money just waiting for this moment. Good to see a brand new Marlin for a change though. I am surprised it's not the 336.

I’ve got a blued 1895 GG and a CB so I’ll pass, if anyone gets one be sure to tell us what you think of it.

Ok Rulin, a stainless/walnut 39A maybe? ;)

Stay safe.
