Man, that is great news! And what’s really great is I heard Marlin was releasing rifles today too! That’s just so cool! :neener:

I wonder if they are even considering competing with the Henry All Weather side gate 45-70 at that price point?

Sure it’s a Marlin (at least close enough) but yikes. I understand that is the MSRP and the street price will probably be less in time but so are the Henrys with their MSRP at $1141.

I'll just have to keep what I have for now,
and see what happens in the future.
I have enough ammo to last a good while
and pop whatever might need popping.
If nothing else, I still have at least a dozen
new unused arrows RTG in the box

Based on what I can find, these new Ruger Marlins will go for right around 1100. Hopefully the price of their upcoming models goes down as their feet get wet at the factory.

Are they still T-Rex certified? Id take one, what does 45-70 compare to 7.62x54r out of a M44 Mosin or a 7mm magnum rifle?

Wake me up when they chamber one in 450 Bushmaster, 16" stainless, full magazine, threaded barrel and a receiver that matches the length of the 450 BM cartridge.

Or...

A 10mm with similar specs to the 450 BM above.

I assume these are investment cast?

I have no problem with it, just curious. I'm sure if my assumption is correct, and would be surprised if not, this will turn off some JM lovers.

It is a lot of bucks for one of these, but with a likely street price at 1100 for a new, Ruger warranteed, stainless 45-70 lever action, well, it seems reasonable to me. It's not an entry level gun, but a lever gun hasn't been entry level for a while without some pretty shoddy craftsmanship. I'd much rather have a ruglin as a working gun than a Henry. And I have nothing against Henry either. A lever gun isn't cheap to build, if you want cheap from Ruger, go get an American...

I guess that will depend on whether the shooter is buying on price or extra features.

Henry = Hard chrome plated steel, smooth hardwood stock, Marble's semi-buckhorn sights, magazine with two loading ports, 4+1 capacity, transfer bar safety.

Marlin = Stainless steel, checkered laminated stock, fiber optic dot with tritium ring front sight, screw adjust rear aperture, optics rail, threaded muzzle, spiral fluted bolt, magazine with one loading port, 6+1 capacity, cross bolt safety* .

* for the CBS

EDIT: I didn't notice this other Henry that has the rail and sights similar to the Marlin, which brings the retail price of the Henry up to $1221.00

"Receiver, lever, and trigger guard plate are CNC machined from 416 stainless steel forgings."
"Barrel is made of 410 stainless steel and is cold hammer-forged"

Looks like there is hope for the traditionalist!

"The company is being tight-lipped about this, but it is safe to say that in 2022 we’ll see blued metal on these rifles as well as walnut stocks. You can also expect the return of the Marlin Model 1894 as well as the Marlin Model 336." - Outdoor Life

I am not shocked by the price. It looks like Ruger put a lot of effort into the reintroduction of the 1895 and I am sure that a good portion of the increase in price comes from this. The market will tell them if it was worth the effort. I am sure after the first few batches go, the price will be below MSRP. They are going to have to compete with Henry who has really stepped up their game with the addition of the side loading gate. When Ruger was thinking about the Marlin brand I glad they did not try and turn it into an "American" level product. Not knocking the American's, I have several and they are all great, but for a levergun I perfer quality.

I am hopeful that Ruger will bring back the 16" barrel for the 1894 and the 336. Today is a good day for the Marlin brand and I am hopeful it survives many years to come.

Edit to add a quick perusal of Gunbroker shows most Marlin 1895 SBL's around the 2500 dollar mark, some are even higher, so if you got to have one Ruger already saved you at least a grand.

Yes- "Ruglin" is the linguistically correct progression of "Remlin". Not sure where "Rarlin" fits into the picture besides the mind of the OP.
Listen boss cause I’m into honesty I don’t know where it came from and it came from my head. There is no reason in this thing sometimes. But it sounded right at the moment. Y’all didn’t invite me to the meeting so I made my own way. I always do!
