I avoid the steel plates you often see at gunshows, friend of mine bought a couple plates that were advertised as AR500 and it turned out to be soft steel. I'd buy from a company that's been around a while.

I bought a 12" AR500 target and their SuperLock target hanger system... it's fantastic. I also sprang for the multi tube stand brackets, which also work very well...
