Hey Ruger SR-22 owners,

I just got a recall notice e-mail that Ruger is recalling SR-22 models due to frame inserts not being assembled to the frame correctly in some guns. This causes safety mechanisms to not function correctly with the possibility of a loaded gun firing upon decocking.

This affects guns with serial number 369-40078 or newer and all guns with an “SS” prefix in the serial number.

Contact Ruger if you have a gun in this range or if you have questions about your SR-22.

Stay safe.

I got the same notice in an email. I read it to mean older than the mentioned serial number. "Potentially affected pistols include any SR22 pistol with a serial number of 369-40078 or lower (including all SR22 pistols with a "SS" prefix). " I assume lower = older ?
I am just trying to be clear for others reading this but did not get a notification.

I think you are right, looks like it is for guns made earlier than the number listed.

Stay safe.

Will have to check my serial number. Bought mine in 2013 and may have supplied Ruger with an e-mail address that I have since quit using.

I think I got mine in 2017, so would I be affected? Not home rn, cant check serial

Okay I just spoke with Ruger because my gun is in that serial number range. They are calling it a safety bulletin not a recall. They are saying to watch for the gun having a slack trigger like it does if the safety is on or the magazine released, while the gun has a magazine in it and the safety is off. If your gun is operating normally they will repair it. It is not a general recall of any gun below that serial number.

Thanks for posting this. Mine falls into this category and is doing what they're describing. I submitted my info to them and will send it in for repair.

I'm curious, has you SR-22 been that way since you purchased it? Or did it start sometime later. From @Riomouse911 description, it was a flaw from assembly, and not a part failure. We have 2 SR-22s, and both work properly at this time. I'm just trying to get an understanding that at some point in the future that neither start having this safety issue. TIA :)

I bought mine used. I've experienced the slack trigger and don't know if it was like that when new.

I just received a call from Ruger's customer service. They walked me through a test of the gun, and mine seems to be fine. There are times the slack in the trigger is normal, which led me to misunderstand the issue.
