Curious if you have one and what you think about it.
Any issues/problems?

I was wanting to buy one but at a USPSA match today one of our shooters who is an instructor said she had one and it had to go back to Springfield for issues when new (and was great afterwards) and out of 6 of her students that purchased one 2 had issues (also when new) and the those two guns had to go back to Springfield. (which made them right)
Small sample for sure, but 3 out of 7 back for issues makes me concerned.
I have 2 other Springfield 9mm loaded 9mm 1911s, one low rounds and the other has about 70K rounds on it and both of them are fine. (maybe time for a barrel in the one, but hey at 70K+ I can't complain)

Still thinking about getting one but a two week trip to Springfield out of the box to make it right does not sound good.

Note: I am in CA so what I can get is limited it must be on the Approved List
(and we can only have 10 round mags) So other options I might chose for more mag cap don't matter here.
I do really like 1911s.......
 
I have one and so far it has been percent reliable. I love the way it feels and it carries really well better than my double stack guns. If you are in the San Luis Obispo area we could meet and let you try it out.
 
Traded into a Ronin EMP 9mm recently, the wife said it was pretty. So far it has fired everything I've put into it without issue except one out of dimension handload. I've even tried to choke it with different bullet weights, hollow points, round nose in the same magazine, etc. Been a very solid performer. Accurate too, especially for a 3" barrel. Now, it was used when we got it, so its possible its been back to the mothership, but I have no way to prove that. Bottom line, we're very happy with it.
 
Got the wife one for Xmas...but between surgeries, funerals, and stuff haven't had a chance to get out and shoot it yet.

I did have to send my SA 911 380 back to get it to run right. Service was great, turnaround was quick and gun has been perfect since.
 
The two issues I've seen in the EMP has been tight chambers and floating ejectors.

Mine has a slightly tight chamber. I've addressed it by only feeding it ammo reloaded in FC brass which has been either sized through a Lee undersized die or a Mighty Armory sizer. It isn't fussy about bullet profiles and feeds RMR Matchwinners as well as RN bullets. For carry, I load it with Speer 124gr Gold Dots.

As a cost cutting measure, SA just drops the ejector into holes in the frame. It is held in place by the slide. The only time you'd notice is if you took the slide off, inverted the frame, and banged it against a bench to shake it loose. If you send it back to the factory, they'll fix it into the frame
 
Mine runs great. I had to change my ammo to fit the chamber on my gun because it's a bit small, but other than that it has run great.

I did have a magazine for my EMP that decided it didn't want to feed anymore. It was promptly replaced.
 
My EMP4 carry is my favorite handgun. It was purchased with a promotion that included 4 extra mags and other swag. It has been utterly reliable for me, but I have read that some have extractor issues. The three inch barrel 9mm formula took a lot of work for Springfield to get right, so I would not be surprised that some went back for tune-ups.
 
I have a 9mm EMP4 and love the way it feels and shoots. I have had a long-standing issue with failures to feed and failure to go into battery. I sent mine back to SA, and they are shipping it back this week after reaming the chamber, re-cutting and polishing the feed ramp, pinning the ejector and tuning the extractor. Cost to me? Goose-egg, zero, nada. That's including shipping and insuring both ways, and I bought the pistol used. Can't ask for better service than that, and we'll see how well it runs in a few days. I like mine well enough (even with the issues) that I just made a deal to buy two more, one of them a .40S&W version I've been looking for.
 
I have a 3 and a 4. Beautifully well made, great in the hand, I've had not issues. I like the 3 (the first one I bought) but if I could have only one it would be the 4. Also, I recently bought more factory magazines for the 4 off of Springfield's website. They did not list any available for the 3. I would think they'd be more popular, although plastic striker pistols are the rage and 1911-platform pistols in the EMP price range are probably less so.
 
Family member bought one soon after they were released. Had all kinds of issues. Sent it back to Springfield. Springfield replaced the slide and I don't know what else. Fine, reliable, little pistol now.
 
Hmm, now I just need to see if I can get one.
I need the CA legal model, which appears to be back ordered for months.
Sigh...

I got mine back the other day and went straight to the range with it to see if it had improved. I bought my 9mm version a couple years ago and it looked brand new, so I think the previous owner had issues and dumped it. I had frequent failures to feed and lock into battery, so I finally sent it back. They reamed the chamber, re-cut and polished the feed ramp, pinned the ejector and tuned the extractor. I put four magazines through it yesterday, one of them as fast as I could pull the trigger, and got two stovepipes out of 40 rounds fired, but no failures to feed. The stovepipes were far apart in the shooting sequence, can't really pin down why they happened, but the gun runs much, much better. No charge from SA.
 
Emp 100% reliable when I shoot it.
Wife shoots it multiple failures?
Every other pistol she has shot no issues. She can outshoot me and most others in our small group.
