Glock AR15

The amazing thing about Glock is that they have become so well-known -- i.e. around 65-70% of all police departments equip their officers with Glocks -- that even the "ignorant" understand that Glock would not be where it is but for the fact that they produce some of the finest firearms in the world.

Sure… but Glock hasn’t made ARs. They make Pistols.

Look at Springfield who has been around a LONG time. They make some high quality rifles & pistols. They make the M1A many people love so much. And they even made the ICONIC.., the LEGENDARY M1 Garand!

But NOT AR’s. So several years ago, from out of nowhere, Springfield decides to build their own AR & call it the Saint! And it is a miserable failure! It’s an overpriced, $500 AR. Savage tried the same thing. Smith & Wesson were the first to do it, but at least they did it quite some time ago, and have had success. Ruger & Sig also. But then Sig thinks they can make anything best… including Scopes & even AMMUNITION!

Again I say to these manufacturers just coming out with an AR… STAY in your Lane!

The Springfield Armory Inc. that we know today has only been around since 1974. They have no affiliation with the government-appointed armory of the same name which operated from 1777 to 1968.

It was a pretty good marketing decision to take that name, though

Yes, thank you. But not the point I was making. :)

If Glock had done that they'd just be another knife supplier to the Austrian army...

Actually, Gaston could have simply stuck with making curtain rods at that! But his knives & the Guns were in the same time period. He learned of the Government Knife contract in 1976. The pistol was designed in 1981. So its not like there was so some long history of one thing designed to perfection, then taking on something else. As was joked earlier, it really is the same as if they started making a GLOCK 1911!! Honestly, how ridiculous would that be?

Is it that Americans need fewer buying choices and less competition between gun manufacturers?

So it's dumb for SIG to open an ammo factory because Vista obviously has everything so well under control?

They've been selling the Saint for six years now and have expanded to four rifle models in two calibers, plus a 5.56 pistol.

I doubt they'd do that if they weren't turning a profit. Businesses care more about making money than they do about what people on the internet say.

A GLocK 1911 wouldn't be rediculous, it would be...PerfectioN. GLocK perfection :rofl::p

In an already saturated market, they are a decade late on this one. Now if it were a short stroke piston with an 18" barrel I might be interested since no one hits that niche yet.

Just a note, Springfield (the commercial company) did actually make some M1 Garands. They used a cast receiver and a lot of GI parts, I think.

Something tells me that Glock probably wouldn’t attempt to import ARs to the USA.
This.
As heavy as the AR market is over here, I doubt Glock would bother with trying to sell to civilians. Maybe LEO, that's where Glock knows their game.
I've also owned a few polymer AR lowers and all I'll say is Don't. None cracked or broke but both had wear issues I've not seen with any aluminum lowers. Aluminum is cheap, light, and durable.
I WOULD like to see a pistol caliber Glock carbine.

Just fudd ramblings man. SA ain’t a paragon of innovation but at least they have kept a widely available M14 on the shelves. And it’s nice to get another European rifle imported in (vhs-2/hellion).

Glock competed for a military contract where the parameters were set for them, nothing creative required there.

I don't doubt they have the ability to create something truly innovative, would love to see what they're capable of in a pistol caliber carbine.

Keltec did a nice job with their Sub2000 folding carbine, a version of which utilizes Glock mags. This has to be somewhat of a poke in the eye for Glock. Glock, show us what you can do!

Glock even competing in a military AR trial is weird. When's the last time they made ANYTHING that wasn't a square pistol?

I get it, the guaranteed government money is cushy, but there are already so many players in that space.

Like all the tweaked forms of Insulinaldehyde they have for Diabetics?

Because there's money to be made with brands, mon

Easy. Make it Colt.

There... FTFY. Hands down, the worst trigger in my safe is my Colt H-Bar. I had the opportunity to shoot my friends Colt LE6920 a few weeks ago... and it was just as heavy and creepy as my H-bar. I know, I know... it's just 2 examples.

It would be cool if Glock made some sort of PCC, like the MechTech or LoneWolf, but without the modularity, using Glock mags, etc. It seems the PCC market has more interest lately, rather than in the already flooded and overly innovated AR market.

Those ARs don't look like anything I would expect Glock to make. They look more like bad renders/photoshop jobs of other brand ARs you would get with Glock on the magwell.

If Glock builds a PCC that takes its pistol magazines I'll take a look. Otherwise, no interest at all in a Glock rifle, especially an AR.

I have always liked Glock's simplification of the concept of autoloading pistols.
It is far from perfection but almost everything that is unnecessary has been dropped.
If they can do this to their entry in the niche that includes the AR-15 then I'm all for it.

Still waiting on this one...
