What did you shoot today?

This morning it was about 50 rounds through my Tisas commander size 1911 "Tanker", most slow fire at 10 yards..

Shot the Steel Challenge match today using my 4 inch S&W 617 and shooting in Rimfire Pistol Open against the auto loaders. Came in third out of 6 in my class so I'm happy. Not my best score but the second best I've shot these past 4 year.

I had my back up gun, my 6 inch 617 just in case but didn't need it. On the first stage one of the competitors shooting rimfire pistol open had his TX22 go belly up so Ilent him my 6 inch so he could at least shoot the match. He did marvelous for never having sot the gun before. I try to always take two guns with me and it payed off today.

I went too fast on a couple of runs which ruined my overall but I also shot my best on three stages. I think I'm ready for State.

Took my new to me SigM400, tossed a Sig MSR Green dot on it that I had laying around, sighted it in . Also brought my Yugoslavian 24/47 Mauser. Got the Sig sighted in quickly at 25 yards then took it to 75 yards and was hoping I'd only have a minor POI shift, but it moved 5" high and to the right. The Mauser shot fine other than its a 200 yard sight so I had to shoot way under and it was shooting way left. 20221010_123201.jpg
Sighting in at 25 yards 20221010_124830.jpg
Sighted in 25 yards and dropped a handful of Norma 5.56 rounds on the bullseye 20221010_122507.jpg 20221010_132950.jpg 20221010_134335.jpg
Thats a 17" target, the shots at 11 o clock where me aiming just under the red. Had to aim at the 5 position 20221010_132958.jpg

T/C Encore rifle in 7mm-08, the Mosin -Nagant with scout scope, Weatherby Vanguard in 257 Weatherby, and the Ruger Blackhawk 357 Mag. Here's the Encore this morning. IMG_7046.JPG .Every rifle that gets used for the deer season rifle rotation is now sighted in and ready with its favorite handload. All that's needed now are deer in the crosshairs.

Sometimes all I need is a single-shot 22 and a box of shells. A half-hour out behind the barn, and all is right with the world.

Winchester Model 67, old as dirt. I'm told it has a Mdl 67A bolt in it - okay, sure. Who cares.
I got it at an estate auction probably 10 years ago. I took 4-0 steel wool soaked in mineral spirits and lightly rubbed it; cleaned 50 years of grime and schmutz off of it. A light coat of BLO, and the walnut stock is beautiful. Character marks galore; I don't care.
I don't think there is any bluing left on it, it seems to be developing a wonderful brown patina.

This rifle is pre-serial numbers, and I'm almost certain is late 1930s: pre-WW2.
Buckhorn sights, and a 26" barrel.

Stick a cartridge in, close the bolt, pull back on the firing pin carrier.

3" circle, 25 yards, 10 rounds. Eyes in their 7th decade.
The rifle certainly prefers standard velocity ammo. It was built prior to Hi-Vel stuff.

There is just something about those old 22 rifles. While I have several my favorite is an old Remington Model 510P given to me in 1958 by a friend of my uncle. Spend countless hours on a nice afternoon round after round.

Wife just glanced over at my screen and asked "is that Calvin"? You bear a slight resemblance to our neighbor who just got into the shooting sports. :) I said no but there is a slight resemblance.
