Speed strips, what are you favorite?

So I was putting my J-frame away last night and in the bottom of my travel case were I keep some spare ammo, loaded moonclips in cases and a few spare rounds on speed-strips. Well, this is what I poured out of the pouch with loose rounds of ammo.

These particular speed strips are Tuff Products brand. They are only 1.5 years old and the only abusive thing I did to them was storing them under the back seat of my crew cab this whole summer (north Alabama). Not a big deal as I usually use moonclips, but sometimes, depending on what I am wearing, a speed strip does hide slightly easier than a moonclip.

Has anyone seen similar? Is there a better quality speed strip I should consider?

I had the exact same thing happen to my Tuff Products strips. I used them to carry 30/30 rounds in their belt pouch. They looked great on one hunting trip and when I tried to pull them out at the end of the season, they just fell apart. No more Tuff Products for me.

Sounds like a market opportunity for someone to develop steel speed strips.

Currently I use Bianchi strips for my snubbies. 4 inchers get speed loaders though. Speed strips are OK for pocket organization but I dont think there is that much "speed" to them. I am almost as fast reloading from a decent dump pouch on a belt.

If you have a revolver that shot semi auto cartridges the best low profile speed strip is often a semi auto pistol magazine. I guess a coonan magazine could work well enough.

That is a pretty fantastic prototype. A speedloader that can be stored flat. Even looks faster than an HKS or half moon clips.

I carry five in my six shot speed strip, because I like the gap in the middle to hook a finger through.

I think that you can load 38 special wadcutters in a 45 ACP mag, does anyone have an M1 carbine mag that you could try to load 38 RN into?

That looks nice but for my 442 if I am going to carry a speed strip that has that much bulk I might as well carry a moonclip. I like speed strips because they are flat and go into places/pockets a moonclip cannot.
 
Bianchi and DeSantis both have good speed strips. I only use tuff products for calibers and round counts that aren’t covered by the others.

They are so stiff. Even after they loosen up I can peel off rounds into the charge holes much quicker with the others I prefer. For me these days it doesn’t matter much because I prefer to carry a speed loader and a 2x2x2 belt pouch anyway.

Just got both a Tuff’s and Bianchi speedstrip. I’m using them with .45 Auto Rim. In all honesty, I’ve got to go with Tuff’s. They’re actually less stiff, more pliable and hold the cartridges better.
 
So tonight in the mail I had a small package. I was going to buy some Bianchi speed strips (they are still in my Amazon cart) but @jstert & @jski pointed me toward https://zetasix.com/ and I really liked the looks of their product. I bought the 2 pack of the J-strip (a 5-shot strip for my J-frame) and a 2 pack of the K-clip for my Model 10. The came pretty quick and they threw in an extra Sym-strip (a 5-shot with a tab at both ends) for free. That seems like pretty good service to me. I gave them a try tonight with both revolvers and some dummy rounds. They seem to hold the round secure without being to stiff, noticeable softer than the old Tuff strips. I think they will work out well. The J-strip for dress restrictive CCW and the K-clips will get some snake shot ammo put in them and ride in the tool box I carry when working on the hunting property.

never again will i purchase TUFF brand. They are as far as i know the only strip available for the 32 cal revolvers. Last time i used one the strip broke and part of the strip stayed with the rounds in the cylinder sort of quarter moon clip style. The strips were a little over a year old from memory. This was the event that had me finally go with a 5-Star speed loader for the 32.

Never had that problem with bianchi strips for my 38.
I also have a DeSantis 38 strip still in the package that came with a holster....never tried it so its an unknown.
