Unfortunately we can't make primers as fast as powder. The lot size for powder is huge...Went to Cabelas today. Lots of lb and 8 lb jugs, Auto comp. H335, Tac X=terminator Tac, TCM, HP 38 etc Bought the X=term. $31.95. BUT, still NO primers.
Hope for the best; plan for the worst.Powder does seem to be coming back, but prices are up around here. Primers seem to be coming back too, and prices seem to be coming down just a bit. Can't wait for this mess to turn around.

Hope for the best; plan for the worst.
Im glad i planed for the worst when the world started to turn upside down in 2019. I rode this last one out still shooting. I now have more rifle powder than before it all started. When primers are reasonable im going to buy 2 cases of each i use. When im down to 6000 primers i'll get another case.
I started buying primers I don't normally buy, even though they're still made by the same company. Usually just cci200, 250, 300, 350, 400 and 500's. Now I've been buying when in stock #34's and at times #41's and 450's. I do have a decent amount of all, but when you reload 13 different rifle cartridges with no to that match makes a person inclined to buy. Now on to pistol. 7 different cartridges, but not too much? Finding small primers for pistol and rifle seems to easy, but as you know large rifle and pistol (at times) is far greater search.Primer situation remains consistent with what prompted me to resume reloading in early 2021. When Vista acquired Remington, that put 3 of 4 sources of centerfire primers made in US in Vista basket. Vista controls what you get.
Same situation exists with shotgun primers, but Cheddite has seen fit to take advantage of shortages and sell the crap out of primers in US. They have kept shotgun loaders running hot. At least those that want to. That seems to be a cost sensitive market......high volume shooters indifferent what they put in the tube as long as it goes bang....and often. Big reloading market there is in small gauges......16, 20, 28 and 410. Big cost savings over factory there.
Still think good idea to pad stash while you can........and then when it comes to use.....put a min floor on it. Something in reserve. Consider a nephew.....had two boxes of ammo, shot it all up one afternoon plinking.......then did without for 2 years. Imagine where we would be if primer situation becomes permanent. I'd be glad I had something in reserve.
Stopped into a random gun shop that had no reloading equipment bullets or cases but had lpm and srp for 135 a k one box of each sitting in the case. Then this. 55 a pound.View attachment 1116036
I’ve bought them cheaper recently, until you add the hazmat and shipping. You did well!!!Went to my LGS today and they had some powder and primers. Picked up a brick of Federal GM200M spmm and a brick of CCI 41's, $120 for each brick.
Also picked up a pound of Ramshot X-Terminator for $35. Not as cheap as it was, but it's available, although still kind of sporadic.
Available is better than not, and things are getting better IMO, but I would still like to see prices drop.

The Sportsman’s in Reno has been that way for about 6 months too, 2 sleeve max. But they always seem to have a variety. When we go to Morgantown (a 3 1/2 hour drive) we stop in at Sportsmans and primers are about $60 per brick, but they have a limit of 200 per customer/day. I don't know if the LGS is paying that much more for primers, or if they are making more profit, but either way it is what it is. The other LGS in my area charges more for primers, powder, and everything else gun related. We do have a third LGS in town, with competitive prices, but they don't sell anything reloading related so I almost never go there.

Same prices Bass Pro in Gatorville has for the same products, only they don’t have anything but 1#’ers. Beckwith’s in Micanopy is $5-10 cheaper and has more variety but it’s twice the distance and they keep fewer on hand. I went there for IMR 4227 and they had it for $31/# when I called ahead but someone came through and cleared them out before I got there. No telling when they will reorder or how much it will be. They’re a small shop and they price cost + 15% then leave it on the shelf until it sells. If prices go up, they’re a bargain; if prices go down, they’re pricey. Bass Pro will eat a loss to take their customers.Medium size store in Small town OK with no competition for miles.
