One reason I hate going to the gun shop

For several years, whenever I bought an SAA online I would have it shipped to the local tacticool dealer, because they had the lowest prices for transfers. I took more enjoyment than is completely appropriate in watching bearded and tatted "operators" with SOCOM 23s on their hips try to figure out a loading gate.

You don’t know the half of it! … I’m from the back woods of NC & it’s very diverse in the South. Post season deer camp at the lease is at bad as Motown in July at the “Shot House” in Hamlet NC

Anyone ever pull a loaded gun out in Court or on their way into the courthouse ? DON'T for the same reason only a moron would pull out a gun loaded or not inside a Gun Shop ,especially with a sign stating NOT TOO !.
Cemetery's are full of less than stellar thinkers I just saw a surveillance video few weeks back where some jacked up clown , decided to rob a fuel convenience store ,with Women running it . He will NEVER make another mistake !.

Women are good shots! My wife after 10 years of not shooting (military training) was hitting soda caps from 15 yards!

Gun shows I have been to simply say to leave your CC holstered. There is NO prohibition.

I would Not want to have to live on the difference of My Wife's shooting ability ,when She sets her mind to hitting targets . Especially as she is practicing more and more . She is gonna get her enhanced CCW ,is MY take on the step up . Just read about a female postal worker ,walking home from her shift like she had for nearly the last 38 years ; Murdered in Oakland ,CA. The Lady being colored in a predominantly colored neighborhood made obviously NO difference to the Black Perp . I believe ALL persons citizens and otherwise ,will soon be ARMING themselves in Ernst regardless of laws . There's one law politicians never seem to factor in ,when making and passing more and more laws .

I carry in guns shops and big box stores that sell guns. Also at gun shows. My pistol stay's in the holster where it belongs. The gun jerk I encountered was at an ACE hardware. The clerk was handing me cute little Browning 1911/22 and I made a somewhat elaborate swing away from the clerk to make sure I didn't inadvertently point the gun at someone. This Idiot say's" What are scared of, shooting yourself?"" HAHAHHA! I said "No, I'm making sure I don't shoot you." He stopped laughing when he saw everyone staring at him.

Times like those are one of the only times I use the term “I support the 2nd Amendment but….”

I'm from the Midwest originally. "Soda" is the same as "pop, right?"

On topic, I'm sure we've all seen heinous firearms handling at the gun counter, but I'll never say that's a reason I hate going to the gun shop. Only reason I hate going to the gun shop is because of all the 'splaining I have to do to the wife when I get back... One learns over the years to keep an eye out for the cretins trying to pull out loaded handguns from holsters, for whatever reason in the gun shops. I saw a guy who wanted to show off his carry pistol tackled once by another customer at the gun counter. Good times.

I was at the gun shop with my son who was looking at some pistols when another customer walked over, pulled his carry gun and handed it to my son saying "I'll bet you'd like one of these". The counter guy immediately hollered "What are you doing! Is that gun loaded?" Which of course it was. And it was not cleared prior to handing it over. That's the dumbest thing I've seen so far.

That’s one of the best statements that I have heard in a while to describe some human nature.

By the away, I am totally incorporating this into my pithy statement library.

If I started listing all the dumbassery that I have witnessed in gun stores I would be here all day, as I am sure would be the case for many here.

Along the lines of the OP’s experience I was in my former LGS when some joker whipped out his pistol without asking and immediately had 3 guns pointing at him from the store staff. I moved out of the line of fire and put my fingers in my ears. The knucklehead looked around. Looked at me then laid his gun on the counter and raised his hands. Everything calmed down in short order. One of the guys that worked at the store / range asked me why I plugged my ears. I responded with “I can get blood splatter off me and out of my clothes but my hearing’s already bad enough as it is” The knucklehead gave me a funny look and the clerks laughed.

Our NRA Basic Pistol class uses the indoor range of a local law enforcement agency. Holes everywhere and not from our students.

I was line coaching at a different range. Student had a very nice, very new, very tight custom 1911 that often failed to go completely into battery. He would smack the slide. I told him that was the correct way to deal with that particular malfunction but he must take his finger off the trigger when doing so. He ignored this and shortly put 230 grain FMJ through the roof in the direction of downtown.
