New to reloading after a long lapse.
Until I can save my fired brass, will need to buy some.

Recommended Vendors, please?

I buy once fired brass from several different vendors. It has always been worth it to me to pay a bit extra for them to clean/polish the brass. The particular vendor depends on what they have vs what I am looking for.

Here are some of the vendors I have used personally in the past and have had good luck with. I generally don't shop for the absolute cheapest price and usually pay a bit of a premium for the brass that will work best for me (cleaned and polished instead of just swept up from the range). Occasionally I have been able to make purchases like all nickel plated Federal headstamp once fired (which I use for my carry ammo) which, of course pay more for. For .45acp carry ammo I buy new nickeled brass but buy used for plinking, target shooting, range practice. I have yet to regret purchasing used brass from online.

P.S. I usually buy big quantities and get such a good deal that I spend very little time trying to retrieve every last case of the once fired brass in common (cheap) calibers... 9mm, .40, .45acp (,.380). Where I will spend 10 minutes looking for my last missing .50AE or .44mag case (which I also buy used).

What and how much volume are you planning to load? For example, if it's larger rifle for precision long range shooting I would recommend Lapua. Volume plinkers for 9mm or such probably don't warrant the cost of new starline, but 44 and 357 generally is worthwhile.

** See you are looking for 380. Range brass once fired would be my choice. Definitely go with clean/sorted to save yourself extra work and equipment. These guys are very reasonable with shipping.

For new brass - handgun brass in particular - I usually look to Starline first.

For guns which heave brass all over the landscape, I often buy once-fired, with the knowledge that I'm going to lose a good percentage of them. For that task I usually check DiamondK first. At the moment they seem to have a pretty good selection. https://www.diamondkbrass.com/380-a...nce-fired-500-9mm-law-enforcement-brass1.html

New brass, Starline. For used brass..the big 4 (9, 40, 45, 5.56) there are hundreds of places to get good deals. For hard to get stuff Big Dog Brass seems to be a good guy, though I haven't bought anything from him personally, he's highly regarded on MeWe and has his own group. He is the goto for hard to get stuff and keeps a running waiting list for such things. I can PM you his email if your interested.

Do they search you going in and out to make sure you have exactly the same number of cases and same mfgr.?
I occasionally shoot at an indoor range near me, and even though they still have that rule, I always seem to leave there with more brass trhan I bought or brought in.

That might work here also!

I buy pistol brass by the 5-gallon bucketful from a CCW state license trainer. He has it separated by the 55-gallon drum. It’s not cleaned and processed. You might call some of the trainers in your area. If memory serves, I think I had over 5,000 in the last batch of 9mm I bought.
