This made me go..........Hmmmm...

All that stuff @JimGnitecki posted may be true, to someone who cares or can really use that info, I don’t care what my bullet is doing 287.65’ down range as long as it’s not sideways…
As I said, different strokes for different folks, as I would only ASSUME most of us could use the Garmin as is…..
Size, portability and convenience seem right up it’s alley so 1 will prolly find it’s way to me sooner than later… :)

Back on topic, the Garmin is definitely competition for the Labradar in my world. (Not an assumption.) Like the Labradar, the Garmin doesn't require a cease fire at the range for setting up in front of the shooting bench, plus it's compact, comes with its own stable base, easy to set up without aftermarket aiming devices or old Bic pens. What's not to like for 90% of us? (That's an assumption. )

The poster of the noise & signal stuff may like to do another post about that subject, and the products it effects. I'd read it.

My Garmin is on back order. The push for me was to be able to chronograph loads over the winter, indoors.
About those lithium batteries again. There is associated circuitry in a device that controls and monitors a lithium battery.
It isn't a simple NiCad charging circuit. The dance between the circuitry and the battery is what keeps them from flaming up big time.
So, I'm hoping that a trusted source comes up with a solid procedure that works to replace the battery, or Garmin offers an inexpensive service.
In any event, I'm hoping its down the line several years. :)

My reasons to postpone purchasing….

1. As a rule, I avoid 1st generation electronics. Better to wait for bug fixes and performance improvements.
2. A non-replaceable battery in a $600 device is concerning.
3. User reviews are sparse.
4. I already have a chrono.

I follow these rules as well!

My Labradar must be a golden child, because I have very few issues with it. Best change I made was running it from my iPad instead of my Android phone.
The non user replaceable battery is pretty concerning over time. I would assume one could use an external battery pack to get it going in that case.

I hope it has a 5 volt input charger so our cell phone battery packs work with it. My GPSs do have a 5 volt input or I wouldn't be able to plug them into my laptop USB port for over an hour, while it's putting in new maps.

@lonecat posted this in another thread.

Just sayin.

It's a pretty sweet deal if you're willing to wait in the growing backorder list.

Someone from Pew Pew Solutions posted that on the Reddit "gun deals" section (I don't use reddit, just saw it talked about in another reloading spot) and they pulled it because they got so many orders they're afraid of not being able to fill them all.

The website now says "expected 12/15" where yesterday afternoon it said "12/5".

I almost pulled my BO with Garmin to save some dough but decided I'd rather have it sooner than slightly cheaper.

The website didn’t like my address, dang it.

I'm just a "poor" guy who has too many other toys to buy. If I had my billion dollars, I'd buy this AND a Labradar; however, for my purposes at this time, the Garmin would be what I would buy first. It's now on my "list". More stuff to add to the black hole to which I send money.

I've thinking about it and looking to see if it comes up, but I'm a little surprised that Sportsmans Warehouse hasn't gotten any yet. They seem to sell a good amount of Garmin products.
I guess maybe they didn't get in the queue for the initial launch.

For Canadian forum members: The CANADIAN price of the Garmin and the Labradar are currently within $10 of each other. The Garmin offers significantly smaller size. The Labradar offers velocities at multiple distances for each bulelt fires, whereas the Garmin offers only muzzle velocity.

Midway sent me an e-mail about my Garmin chronograph back order this morning.
Date changed from Nov. 4th to unknown.
:(

Has anyone actually received one yet? The video guys are all promoters & got advanced copies. Right?
I plan to use the Ohler tomorrow. Outdoors. 10 minutes to set up.

I'm definitely going to get one. There's a couple of companies making cool mounts for them too, bench mounts and rail mounts and such. Looks like it solves a lot of problems with conventional chronies in a much nicer form factor than labradar. I've also seen some tests where it was run side by side with a labradar and an old school chrony, and picked up shots neither of the other 2 did.

Was in local Scheels (Omaha) today…
The Garmin had a place in the shelf but no stock, they had 4 LabRadars on the shelf…
Also, Midsouth Shooters has $125 off the $699 price of the labRadar….
LET THE PRICE WAR BEGIN….!!!

Scheels here( Lincoln) had a spot. Had several labradar and some magneto speed all on an end cap by themselves…

How far downrange does the Labradar read? It would need several hundred yards for enough velocity decay to figure those low supersonic BCs that a long range shooter needs.
