I soaked and scrubbed and soaked and scrubbed the barrel until 99% of the carbon was gone.
I made a little short "bore guide" for the job.
It was filthy, no excuse, just got busy/too much to do/too little time/lazy, to do it. Sigh, paid the price too.
It came clean, but it was a lot of work.
I put it all back together (with the Steiner Scope) and nervously waited to try it out. (I'll put the Nightforce back on it.)
Shots 1, 2,& 3 got me pretty much zeroed and showed me it wanted to put the bullets where I pointed, so I loaded 6 more (using a powder I have
never tried in Dasher, 8208). First 3 were slow and had a large SD, so I bumped it up by .2 grs to 30.8 for rounds 4 through 9.
Rounds 4, 5, & 6 in some wind, but forgot to hit OK the last time on the Xero and didn't get numbers.
Figured out the Xero wasn't set and got it right. Rounds 7, 8, & 9 in some wind.
Looks like the barrel is fine. That's 678 rounds down the tube now.
Primers are fine. Now to put the Nightforce back on it, break out the 8 Lb jug of 8208 and do a work up.
