Have you tried the Powderhorn (on 410 between 90 & Marbach)?

Dave, the owner of the powderhorn, told me he doesn't do transfers. It's a shame to, because Dave is one heck of a guy and would do alot of business through him if he did transfers.

The folks out at Bullethole shooting range are really nice, ask for Carol.

San Antonio isn't that big, so Dury's on the east side charges $25.

Bullet Hole are nice folks also.

Don't know why that would bother anyone; if you are in the business you know to check the validity on the ATF website so a fake FFL will get you nowhere except locked up for trying to use it. This is easy to do, that's why they call it ezcheck. https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/
If the address and name do not match with the number forget it!

Not in San Antonio but not too far out at Canyon Lake is Canyon Sporting Arms. $25 transfer fee. He is also a good gunsmith.

How far west? There's a guy on Nakoma by the airport. However, that's a last resort. The entire airport area is a maze. He's on the second floor..no elevator which is tough for someone with a hitch in their get along like myself.

I put in the zip for Live Oak (West of SA) 78233, and got 16 hits within 10 miles. Cheapest, also the closest, was $10, and prices ranged up to an obscene $75 for transfers.

Ok, here's another recommendation. I have all mailed guns sent to the Bandera Gun Range. They charge $15 for the transfer, then you can shoot your new baby there for $10. Nice outdoors range. JM, the owner is a great guy. I've given him a lot of business over the years. Drive out Hwy 16 through Helotes. Stay on 16 for about 30 miles until you get to Bandera. Turn left at the light. Go about a mile and turn right at the sign for the Hill Country Wildlife Area. Go about a mile and the shooting range is on the left (just passed the cemetery). Good luck.

Villareal's!!! That was a great place to go shoot. I used to shoot there a lot back in the '80, before the state buckled down on their definition of a legal shooting establishment. They would let you take soda cans & jugs of water to shoot at. Those were the good ole days. To have the kind of fun today you have to own a bunch of acres or know someone who does. I have neither.

On an interesting note. I stopped by at Villareal's a couple of years ago for some firewood. The lady working the counter ended up being my retired history teacher from High School. Her mom & dad own the place, and she helps them out. That was a quick walk down memory lane.

Try Mark at Chernushin Enterprises @ (210) 626-3502. He charges $15 for a transfer. I've known Mark for about 10-15 yrs. He's a good guy. He's about a mile south of Loop 1604 on the south end of town.
